Not sure what you can get for £200 but like Sony stuff. I use a Sony camera for part of my job. I've got an old Sony camcorder and it's pretty good.

My dad just got one - can't remember spec/ make etc, BUT I do know that he daved over £100 by finding it cheap on the internet and getting Jessops to price match it plus 10% or whatever their deal is! Worth a go, as you get internet prices with a guarantee from Jessops!

Make sure it has optical zoom and not just digital zoom (which is how they get the big numbers). I'm not sure you will get a DVD one for £200 yet as they are still fairly new technology. The didital SD cameras tend to be the tiny ones I think with little or no optical zoom.

You could post this quistion up on another site here.

Post in the free tech advice bit.

Sure people will come back with some good advice. They usually do.

Good luck with it anyway.

You could get your existing stills camera mended so it takes straight photos.

You have to remeber this is defo something you get what you pay for.

I would like a digital camcorder that records to hard disk and can be used a as webcam. Think there are these out there but i have not looked into it.

I am looking to buy a camcorder and after looking around i really have no clue what to go for! One that records straight to DVD or to SD card, one with super duper zoom... Does any1 have some advice on what to go for?... nothing special, only wanna spend £200 quid or so.

Plenty of online reviews about, but from my own experience Panasonic stuff is good quality and for what you get, reasonably priced. I have had a Panasonic camcorder about 4 years, it's never gone wrong, battery lasts well and it still takes good quality footage.
