I Just wanted to put my 2 pence worth in. I basically wanted to say thank God for this forum. I have owned my Z for just over 3 years (having a 200sx before). I used to travel to a great Nissan garage up near Luton to get my car seviced but after the service manager (who done my car personally) left, I had no confidence in the sevice people left there. I spent the the next 2 years tring to find a descent mechanic who knows the Z without thinking it's just a car. I came across this forum about 3 months ago and I've come across people who care about there cars and who works on them. My car is in with Darren at the moment and from what people (especially Steve) say about Darren, I've finaly got someone I can trust.

So my point, without this forum and peoples opinions (good and bad), I might still be wondering where to take my car next. The way I see this good/bad opinion of garages is, to any tradesmen who don't like this, If you knew of a builder who's work in your opinion wasn't up to scratch, would you want him/her working on a friends house.......no I didn't think so. So any garages who want good things said about them, take note of these comments and do something about them.

LONG!!

Whilst these cars are technically difficult, owners of 300ZX's want trouble free servicing, maintencance and upgrading carried out at a reasonable cost.

Through costly mistakes and my experiences of Z ownership over the past few years, I'm able to offer my opinions and recommendations to anyone interested. I have done this with Vijay and many other forum members.

I've owned a 300ZX since 1997 and eventually found the twinturbo.net forum early in 1999. Before this I used twinturbo.com to gather information and contacts on these cars. Now, thanks to Craig and Nick, this forum is up and running and has gained a popular reputation with new Z owners and potential Z owners logging in all the time. There's no doubt that the forum is excellent and a benefit to every member. (read- customer)

I would imagine that I've experienced every possible problem that could go wrong with a 300ZX. Now this isn't because I went to the wrong garage or let the wrong person loose on my car, I was just very naive when I bought my first 1990 auto which was a total donkey.....turbo seizure within 500miles, gearbox blew within 5000miles etc etc

I incurred great expense with my first Z putting it right and upgrading it in an attempt to make it into a reliable car. Now this was a difficult task as there are not very many people out there who have the experience of even working on the Z car let alone fixing one with lots of problems.

It was never right and I eventually ended up one morning facing the wrong way in a verge with a lamp post buried into my wing.

Ahh! My Z was totalled after so much expense and effort. Ok this was my chance to walk away and save any further expense!

Making a stock Z into a good performance car had always been made out to be beyond the average owner, needing highly experienced motersport companies to do the work. My aim was to show that it isn't a difficult or overly expensive task.

No, I decided to start with a fresh peice of paper and imported a completely stock 300ZX at a very decent price.

I knew what I wanted to achieve and already had various upgraded parts from my totalled Z. All I needed was someone I could trust to carry out the work competently and at a reasonable price.

This is where Darren comes in. He is a fully qualified technician and workshop manager and was always enthusiastic and very helpful about getting my previous Z running as it should. This involved numerous test drives of up to 2hrs with consult... at no cost!! I can say that anyone here who pays for diagnostic work on their Z is getting ripped off. Anyway, We were getting very close to sorting the problem before the lamp post incident.

I discussed my intentions of upgrading my new Z with Darren and trusted him to carry out all the work. He's done a great job at more than reasonable cost and my Z is running totally problem free, which is a relief because of the number of the total changes we made in one go.

The total amount it has cost in making my Z into a more modified and more powerful car than I owned before is nearly half what I previously spent.

Based on a years experience with Darren and the trouble free work I've had carried out leads me to recommend him to other Z owners.

I know there are others companies around that carry out work on the Z and people here have very good comments to say about them and would recommend them.

I don't recommend Darren above any of these companies because of any other reason than my own experiences and knowing what us Z owners need..... trouble free maintenance, servicing and upgrading at a reasonable price and excellent service.

I apologise now if anyone has fallen asleep half way through this post.

Steve

sssnnoooooorrrrrrr ..... huh?

oh sorry about that lol.

At least there has not yet been a complaint about Darren (of what i know) which is exactly what we need, cause now im in no doubt as to who to send my car to.

So for all those people who think the good thing bad thing is bad !!!!???(does that sound right)

the forum does have its purpose and should work out quite nicley for Darren a i think alot more people will go to him,

(see what customer service can actually do for business)
