I'll only celebrate St.George's day, when the government recognise it as a public holiday!

You not English then?

:duffer: :duffer: :duffer:

I will hold my own celebrations

Part English. I'll still only celebrate it when the government gives US time to celebrate it. :)

So, just curious, what's your other part ? Would you celebrate that ?

Most of my family are Hungarian. No, I don't celebrate any Hungarian national festivals.

What's racist about celebrating a half-Turkish, half-Palestinian Roman soldier? After all, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Well mate I'll buy that part of you a beer :D I don't need a holiday to celebrate or an excuse to think of it. :duffer:

Well that's it, you do. How can you celebrate it if you're stuck at work. That's my point, something like this should be a public holiday should it not? :)

NB: I'm not bothered about the day as such, just an excuse for me to moan about the lack of public holidays in the UK.

Good point, just don't turn up, if the Irish can do it so can we and if the boss gets the shits just tell him he is being racist and he can't desriminate against you.

But don't tell your next boss why you got sacked :p

Mind you, how can it be made a public holiday (ne Bank Holiday) when most English people don't even know about it!

Ask them about St Paddy's day though and they will!

St Patricks day is known about because it's commercialised. Do most people who go out and get wrecked claiming they are celebrating it actually know the meaning behind it? I'd hazard a guess in saying 'no'.

It's a little bit like the old Christmas / Easter thing. Easter is actually a more prominent festival in the Christian calendar, but because of the commercialisation of it all, Christmas has been seen to be the most important....and IMHO, the most irritating time of the year.

On behalf of the politically correct of England I would just like to take this opportunity to offer our deepest apology to all Dragons everywhere for St Georges acts of animal abuse.

Personally I've met quite a few Dragons and I don't think even St George would tackle my mother in Law.

now how crap is that

This is the first I heard about it today. Christ and I call myself a patriot. I need floggin

Cry "God" for Harry, England and St George

Have an ale on me boys

Christ and I call myself a patriot.

It's good to be patriotic, just hope you don't adorn your vehicle with these tacky pieces of detritus. :)

After all, what have the Romans ever done for us?

REG:

All right, but apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

XERXES:

Brought peace

A Happy and Peaceful St. George's Day to you all :duffer: :duffer: :duffer:
