My headlights are working on main beam, but when I dip them the passenger side one goes off completely. Sometimes if I move the control lever for the lights from dipped to main beam and vice versa the passenger side headlight may work as normal. By the way they are Hids, I have even tried switching the ballasts over to see if one was faulty but makes no difference. Could it be the control stalk connections.

Thanks

Chris.

try pm'ing or calling danny @ DTA (trader) he's the man with all things HID

Unfortunatley Dan is away on holiday, anyone else?

I take it that these are HID's

If so depending on the ones you've got I am fairly sure that the balast box is either earthing to the body and shouldn't be. Or if they are the same as mine they need to be bolted directly to the body to ensure a good earth. At first I had then cable tied to the loom but touching the body. accidently moved one fitting something and had exactly your problem. They are secured now.

Seen a different type that have to be insulated away from the body or it causes the same thing.

Hi bud,

These were already fitted when I had the z 8 months ago.

The ballast units are not secured to the body just loose, not had any problems before

Cheers

How come they all seem to come with a metal mounting bracket then?

Surely that will earth the ballast.

Pass. All I know is that I bought mine in the 2003 group buy. Thats the reason I subcribed. The HID's from that group buy are a German make and they have bolt eyes on either end for bolting them to the body. I then bought a set off GetGreddy fot my high beem. i never fitted them but sold them on. I have since seen this make fitted to many Zeds. Most comon place people seem to fit them is dirrectly to the top hoses. They are always insulated.

Same ones MarkW fitted and had to insulat to prevent this happening.

It's worth checking the relays and perhaps swapping them over, IIRC there are separate ones for left & right.

Maybe just moved. I had mine fitted for 2 years and only started having problems with them after wiring loom disturbed. Kept having problems then until secured/earth to body.

What do the balast boxes look like and what make are they.
