I started my Z for the first time yesterday, it was stored for winter...

I noticed a loud "tic" "tic" at idle, here is a little video.

video

The sound seems to come from the place I did a close up

What's wrong???

How can I fix that?

:)

sounds like a sticky lifter, check your oil level and make sure theres plenty of decent oil there and give a few revs and it should move it, if not then you need to get it checked out

most probable a lifter problem, i had the same on my z. got some "hydraulic lifter treatment" put half the bottle in the old engine oil, ran for a few days then flushed the engine and changed oil put abit more in with the new oil, and that seems to have done the trick. If that fails then you'll need to investigate further

I also have a noisy lifter and have done for 6 months I have tryed hydraulic lifter treatment but doesent work, every time I fire it up theres the tap tap tap and I need to drive it for a mile before it stops but I have been told its very unlikly to damage the engine but would be worth replacing as I bought a 3 litre not a sowing machine!

If anyone out there knows how much to replace 1 or 24 of them I would love to know!
