lpg for the zed?

anyone know of anyone who has converted their zed to take LPG? just seen 5th gear and it sounds like just the job for the zed, when not booting it!

Featured Replies

Possibly.

But you would have to pay

full cost of conversion.

Should still be able to boot it

though.

i do know they had problems with lpg and turbocharged cars?

Not sure about this though.

Seems pretty pointless to buy a performance car and then make it go slower (because it will).

Plus LGP is not as efficient as Petrol. The Z wont be as powerful and you get between 10-25% less milage.

but its half the price of unleaded remember.

16 quid for 45ltre for lpg

35 quid for 45ltre of unleaded.

i think the price of the conversion would put me off

Personally I think it would ruin a Z engine.

Plus the EU is only holding the duty until 2004. I remember Gorden-Twat-Brown, pumped up the duty 5p the day before the price freeze came into action. I bet it goes up 10-20p with in 12 months after the price freeze is lifted.

Might be an interesting project for an NA though .... How about we talk Mark into doing that with his convertable ? It'll save him an absolute fortune compared with a TT conversion.

When I win the pools and have loadsamoney I'm going to give this a try. What fun to have a performance car which runs on half-price tree-hugger fuel.

If I get your figs correct, this saves ยฃ19 on 10 gals. Assuming the conversion costs ยฃ1,500, it pays for itself after 19,000 miles.

ย

So as Quentin says - high mileage, big engine - just do it.

ย

Except I won't because the risks are too great for me. Which is why I need to win the pools.

Can you imagins creaming most things off at the lights in a smug cloud of H2O vapour? What a gas (sorry) biggrin.gif

Where the 'eck would you put the extra tank?

Our Zed's don't exactly have much space under them, and the boot's small enough already!!

You can get a tank that goes in the spare wheel well.

ย

By law you don't need to carry a spafe so a 12V compressor and a can of tyre weld would suffice.
