I backed the car off the drive this morning and just as I was half way across the road it just cut out. There was no response from turning the key. Meanwhile the traffic is backing up behind me and I’m stuck in the middle of the road!. The dash lights were coming on as normal but it was just dead. In the end I took the key right out of the ignition and tried again. It fired up as normal and away I went. It’s running fine now and there doesn’t seem to be any other problems.

I’ve never had so much as a misfire before now!.

Any ideas anyone?/.

Cheers.

PTU from the sounds of it, if yours is a series one change to a series two fella. It WILL die again soon, and then 5 min later will work agin (For a shor time) then die.

If there was nothing from the starter motor when turning the key then it's not the PTU.

Sounds more like an alarm/imobiliser glitch to me.

Cheers guys.

No it was completely dead but the dash lights were all on OK. Just thought on as well, it was a bit lumpy when it fired up. I thought it might be a fuelling problem or auto choke??.

you got an auto if so maybe it wasnt quite in park or neutral when restarting from a stall its easily done when your in a panic most auto owners on here have done something similar i bet
