Just replaced my rear shocks but the originals had some electrical gizmos on top of the struts that look like air valves. Car is 94 UK TT but I can't see any switches that could possibly activate these. Replacement (non air valve) shocks appear to be fine and after fitting eibachs alround there is one hell of a difference in handling - especially as one of the shocks was leaking.

Any ideas how these valves are operated?

They were fitted to UK shocks to stiffen the rear, they were supposed to work by pulling the handbrake up one click, they were'nt fitted to Jap models.

Sounds like you've got jap ones in their, the UK had a sport setting.

Thanks for response. How was the UK sport setting activated. Mine appears to have all the connecting wiring but without ripping out carpets etc I can't see where the wires end up.

Cheers Baz. Makes sense now. No wonder she felt as though I was bouncing down the road - probably had them on soft setting. Glad one of them was knackered otherwise I would have been really pissed off that I'd changed them.

I put some on my first jap Z and they do feel a bit soft, the one I have now has

adjustable suspension and it’s turned up hard so the car sticks to the road.
