It unlocks the transmission lock when in Park. Basically, you need to turn on the ignition before you can move an auto lever out of P. If you pull the red button up then it allows you to move the lever without engaging the ignition.

PS - Vijay, still no joy on the mirror indicators but the car mats are nearly sorted.

Vijay that`s the +100bhp button hav`nt you tried it yet??

No seriously by pushing it down and also the big side button the gear selector can be moved out of park without switching the ignition on or pressing the brake pedal.

That'll be the one for reducing the size of your jpegs so they don't need to scroll sideways and leave other people's text posts bleeding off to the right! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

No offence meant, vijay - it seems every one does it except for paupers like me who only have crap cameras and crap connectivity.

Just fyi on the technical details, the first of your pics is 1280 x 960 pixels (17.7" x 13.3") which is wider than most people's monitors and forces them to scroll.

The image size on disc is 192kbytes which is quite a lot.

As comparison, here is the same pic resized to be 700 x 525 then run through PaintShopPro's optimization to get a file size of 47kbyte.

No, I don't do this to all my pics 'cos sometimes there isn't the time or some other reason so I am just as bad as everyone else. Just thought this might be slightly interesting to people who are anally retentive about bandwidth!

PS - it's small, red, and protruding - no wonder a man doesn't know what it's for! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

PPS - At one stage, BT was going to call the Docklands Teleport, the Central London International Teleport - but this name was rejected when someone pointed out that with an abbreviation like that, not a single one of their engineers could be expected to find it let alone know what to do when they got there!

Hello Gio,

Cheers for the tip - lol. I would love to make the pix smaller, it pisses me off too, but I ain't got paintshop and the red button on the auto gear stick is not on my car so I can't use that either - lol. Do u know any other way I cn reduce the pix?

Cheers

Hey, Vijay,

at least you're one of us with a sense of humour biggrin.gif

PaintShopPro is available as a free download here http://www.jasc.com/products/psp/

This only lasts for 30 days but might help people with a short term need or help decide if it's right for them.

Corel could probably do the same thing.

There will be a number of graphic / image programs on CD-ROMs on the front cover of Net mag and others. Some will be free, some trial.

Me, once I discovered how to do one or two simple things with PSP, I stopped exploring 'cos I'm no expert. But reading the mags, PSP seems to have a good reputation and is cheaper than Adobe PhotoShop.

Do any of our in-Forum gurus have a better / cheaper solution to the resize / downsize image problem?

Oh, and lastly, they tell me that when you get a digital camera, sometimes the free software will do some image manipulation - but this depends on what the bundle was.

Sorry I couldn't give a definitive answer but HTH anyway.

Cheers - Gio

And I am defo defo defo sending out the adobe disks tomorrow.

Tas been a hectic couple of weeks smile.gif

If you're running Windows you'll have some sort of basic photo editing software that should allow you to trim the picture even if you don't have the ability to reduce the resolution. On XP it's called Photo Editor. And I know I have something similar on my NT machine at work.

Hope this helps

Vijay,

That's the button that releases the Clack Valve!

LOL
