can some one please explain what the point of roof scoops are. i was watching some rallying stuff earlier and i cant for the life of me think what the point of them is.

i could understand if they channeled air into the engine but most of the WRC cars are front engine cars. please put me out my missery. cheers

could it have something to do with air intake incase of streams etc they have to go through now and again? pretty sure some land rovers have intakes mounted high up for this reason.

thats a valid point i hadn't thought of that. top marks mate

i dont think that the wrc has a good system of keeping the occupants cool, as its fully stripped of everything, so the roof scoop is there to aid the driver & co driver stay cool,

thats my opinion anyway LOL!!

surely it wouldnt make any difference if they were in their racing gear and helmet - id have thought it was something to do with air intake for when they were going through water etc.

Its fresh air supply to the cabin in an attempt to keep the drivers cooler. Yes they're in full race gear but this is breathable...

roof scoops are for keeping the occapants of the car cool imagine a rsh of air coming straight into the car at 80+mph even if you are in full race gear it will cool you down the high level intakes that you are thinking of for water are call schnorkels i hope this helps

Yeah thats why they always check the co-driver for firearms before take off.

yep i agree that is probably the reason for em. after thinking about it the thought of em being used for engine air intake just doesn't make sense. how would they route the air to the engine.

Your all wrong

They are put up there by the manufaturers (spellin cos i is pissed) so idiots that have these cars and think they are cool can buy them and look like twats
