I am the groundsman at the local cricket club and have booked the ground for the above weekend for a car meet.

 

My plan is make it something like JAE but just with the 300zx club to start with as it will be the first event of this type that I have organised.

 

I am looking to get around 50 cars to enter as a competition. There will be an entry fee to the competition to pay for trophies etc. and if I get enough interest then a band/disco could also be booked. There is a social club at the site with a bar and toilet facilities. There is a similar event held here for bikes which has been going for around 5 years which has turned into a great success.

 

There are a couple of places in the village that do B&B but people are more than welcome to camp overnight if they want. If people are wishing to camp there would perhaps be a small fee for this as well so that the toilets and shower facilities could be made available.

 

The event will be held in Great Offley. The village is about 15 minutes from junction 10 on the M1 and around the same from junction 8 on the A1. Here’s a map

I have been told that if people are going to camp then I need to sort out toilet facilities. These will cost £250 plus so it is not an option. If people still want to stay there are a couple of B&B's in the village. All I can do is apologise about this.

 

Also the burnouts and dyno are not going to happen. The area I had thought about doing the burnouts on has been set aside for something else now and I haven't ben able to find a portable dyno tester to come along.

 

All this means that this will now be a normal meet but if people want to vote on the best car etc then this can still happen. If people want to pull out then I will understand.

The point is however that there won't be any facilities over night while the clubhouse is closed. I should be able to organise the toilets and showers to opened fiarly early i the morning if we get a few people camping however.

 

Failing that I only live round the corner.

Hopefully I have PMed everybody who has replied to this. I am just after confirmed numbers so that I can let the place know some sort of numbers for the barbbie.

 

I was thinking that the day would go something like as follows.

 

Try to get all the cars on site by say 4pm so that people can do the judging.

 

My idea on the judging would be that we all have a sheet to judge each car. Obviously you won't be able to judge your own car. All the points from each event will then be used to decide the best at show.

 

Hope that makes sence. It does in my head anyway.

 

The disco will start at 7 and we can do presentations at around 8.

 

You can camp on the site but there will be no toilet facilities overnight.

still go for a mini meet to a place you like going to and don't worry about whether others will like it

 

that way you will have a good time at a place you like and afterwards you and the few others who go can say we had a great time and all the others who didn't come missed out

Don't be disheartened by what has happened just keep plugging away poke prod and pester people to come to an event that you are doing and sooner or later they will get fed up with the proding and say we better go to one of his meets just to shut him up

Yep , don't be dis-heartened mate. Everyone knows how much you've put into this. Its one of those things that either happens to be on a day that everyone can get there, or the opposite. This time of year is so busy that there's a lot of other things going on already.

I did ask before planning it if the date clashed with anything else and was told it was OK.

Anyway at least it means I have 6 trophys for my car to display.
