and it is crazy fast. seems to be set up for sprint racing. sadly i dont think ill have the registration in time to make it to Santa Plop on sunday to kick everyones arse. never mind.

I agree, choosing your car is a personal choice, so if someone doesn't like what you buy then stuff 'em - so what!

 

I looked at all high performance cars before deciding on the 300ZX for reasons only pertaining to myself.

Very nice Ben, I love GTO's...and Skylarks, Supras, RX-7's etc. Pukka rear spoiler, does it still work with the active aero bud?

er its on alexander road, near hill lane, not far from southampton central station.

 

yep its the twin turbo.

 

with yellow HKS twin air filters , blow off valve, maybe chipped [not sure yet] strut brace and all that malarky.

 

and for some reason it has a small hole drilled in the turbo. which the bloke down at southampton told me "was not a bad thing, it just stops the backwash of air and lets more air in to the turbo"

 

i said isnt that what the bov is for, wont that hole fuck it up?

My dealer has got two in stock and I was tempted to swap the ZX for one. Till I heard about the problems people have had with them. They are very prone to valve problems and take forever to sort out.

Answer.. Because its one of the cheapest sports cars you can buy, If we could afford GTOs,911s or Skylarks then we would not own a Zed. Hence the reason why Iam upgrading mine and hopefully going to flog it in the near future. Zeds are ok as first cars but they are a bit dated now.

I have to agree, stock looking Z's don't flick my switch anymore. Hence why I'm making mine look nicer(in my eyes, no other fuckers before anyone starts) with upgraded bodywork!

WTF???? I bought mine cos it was what I liked not cos I couldn't afford anything else!!! They are NOT cheap cars either!!! To buy yes possibly but running costs - not so sure on that to be honest

Not entirely true on my behalf anyway,I could afford a brand new R34 Skyline,If I sold one of my houses,But buying one would not make me money,I love my Z yes they are over a decade old but still see most shit off the road .

I live in Cyprus where cars are much more expensive than uk because of the high taxes.last year i bought my z which is a stock jap auto 93 model at the price of 27000 ukp so believe me i didn't buy it because it was a cheap choise i bought it because it was my dream car.I'm 21 when the z came i was 9 since that age i wanted one badly.Supras,RX-7 are good but not my choise i find the z much more beutifull.i think you better sell it to a real zedder than make laugh of it as the best choise for that amount of money.

Exactly the same with me. AFAICR, GTOs were cheaper than Zs when I was looking around. I didn't get one because I loved the Z. I was also looking at Porsches at the time so they weren't out of my budget either (apart from the 911 turbos). I looked at R34 GTRs but nobody would insure me on one. I got a Z cos I wanted one and I think they look awesome, even 10 years on.

Hmmmmm they wern that cheap 3 years ago, and i baught mine because its the car i wanted.

Sounds to me like youve got no interest in or enthusiasim for yours, so why buy it?

 

My own personal taste , is the zed is much better looking car over the GTO, the GTO rides to high, ugly front end. The zed has pure lines , doesn't need spoilers like the GTO to look good. Why do you think the Zed outsold the GTO worldwide!

I wouldn't swap my Zed for a GTO even if you paid me!!! ok if you paid me 20K I would lol (just end up buying another Zed with the money)

Each to their own, but when the two cars were available from UK dealers, the GTO always got bad press.

 

The 300ZX was rated as a real alternative to the Porsche 911 with the same driver envolvement. The GTO always did everything for you, and left the driver as a mear passenger. Also the GTO is heavier still that the Z.

 

I always liked the Zed and will be getting another within the next couple of months.

Looking out for a 95 / 96 version.

I have a Zed and it’s not stock. I luv it and have spent a lot of money on it, don’t get me wrong Iam not slating Zeds or there owners and iam also not kissing arse!. What pisses me off is that I read the threads everyday, to read about up and coming events and for the tech issues and I am finding that most of the topics contain members slagging off ANYBODY else who owns any car but a Zed. What my point is that Zeds CAN destroy most cars out their 'FACT'. But there is a lot more to a car than how fast it goes. I know a lot of you guys are passionate about your cars thats the way it should be , but its not you guys I am talking about, its the minority. You know who u are.!! PS. I bought my Zed less than a year ago and I have spend more coin on it than what its worth so don’t tell me that I am not dedicated. And for the guy in the corner, I am not a rich boy.

Well said mate to be honest! I don't like anyone who can't see beyond the bonnet of a 300 when discussing other sports cars of any origin. As I said to Ben at the start, I love GTO's, Soups, RX-7's etc.

 

Otherwise I wouldn't bother going to Billing, last year I wasn't even in a Z and I spent more time looking at other cars than our own flesh and blood!!

 

How can people say that a GTO is "uninviting" to drive FFS? Define the word "uninviting" in that particular grammatical sense then?

I looked at an '89 348, Cobra and a TVR, before choosing the Z.

 

The Z was the only one that I fell for straight away.

 

The Cobra (a real one not a fakey), looks the part but is too unreliable and no roof (not ideal if you live in Scotland). The 348, (V stupid reason) had tan leather interior...yuck and the TVR is again a motor with problems.
