Hi all,

 

Anyone got any suggestions on backup software? I've got Norton Ghost already but just wondered if there's anything better. I normally backup up the complete drive but is there anything that just backs up new files??

i use something called Simply Safe Backup. however when i run a backup i always do the whole lot, as last year i only did incremental backups and found out after a particularly nasty HDD failure that the stupid thing had only backed up the new files and not kept the original archive so i only managed to recover about 10% of my lost stuff :xxx:

i didnt think there was a backup in XP :confused: there was a good one with '95 which i used regularly but it didnt seem to be included with following versions, although i could be wrong

lol the first thing i do when i get a new PC is restructure the whole Start menu :p still no sign of it. and i do have Home edition as well so mebbe its just in the Pro version. well, if its anything like the '95 version then it was good - although basic (which is all i need).

The program is ntbackup.exe and comes with XP Pro ;) This works pretty well and will cover all the essentials. Acronis Trueimage is pretty good - mainly use this for upgrading laptop hard disks ;)

aha! didnt know that nice one BillyNM. i'll stick with S.S. Backup tho cos its all set up the way I like it ;)
