I'm calling it a day with the zed, it let me down big time again last night.

 

I won't be inflicting it on any of the members on here it'll be an ebay special as i wouldn't wish it on anyone else.

 

I'll be putting it back to stock form, standard exhaust, air box and wheels etc.

It's done 118,000KM (72,000Miles), it doesn't smoke when you're driving just a little on start up after a short trip the day before (which'll stop again when the stock exhausts go on)

 

Its got leather seats, only faults are the rear windscreen element is knackered and the aircon belt is missing so aircon may or may not work.

 

12 months tax put on the other week and a few months MOT

 

Paintwork is alright but it has a little rot here and there on the arches and sills.

 

What do you think? About £2000-2500?

 

Is it worth breaking it? Pete'll know what it's worth as a breaker.

 

I'm buying this civic on saturday to get me by for the time being but ultimately the money i'd have to spend to get it sorted out would be about 5k to get all the paintwork/interior up to the standard i want it and to be honest i could by a TVR Cerbera for 8k or a BMW 850

 

Opinions please?

Buy a diesel cheap puddlejumper and keep the zed, put it on classic ins, use it at weekends. I have had no ends grief/faults/breakdowns with my 1993 zed and you get there in the end. I'd say dont sell. Just my opinion bud but its your call.

I've given it a number of chances and it always lets me down mate. last straw last night, took me 2 hours to get back from nottingham.

I was ripped off when i bought it and lost a damn good NA zed, i wont be buying another

the way the zeds are selling you will be lucky to get 2000 on ebay if you mention the problems

 

keep it till the weather is good then sell it

looks like that's what's going to happen unfortunately, i won't be driving it again after this weekend

On ebay it will finish at what? £1500? You could break it and get £3000. In your heart though, if you dont want to break it then thats fine.

 

Keep it a few months till it gets warm. See what happens to the smoke with the standard exhaust, and maybe get a bodyshop to do a cheap rust repair. Then at least you can advertise as 'perfect'. No offence meant to any buyer, just helping him shift it!

 

Only then will the price go over the breaking value.

This is your second post in a week saying this. If it's that bad get rid of it.

 

Which ever way you do it you won't get back you have put into it but if it has turned into that much of a dog then you should break it and not inflict it on another owner.

 

Hope it all works out OK and that you don't leave the forum.

Nah i won't be leaving here, just had enough of this car. maybe one day i might buy another but i was stung for this one big time and it's put me off them totally.

 

It's not a bad car just i can't warrent spending any more on it, it needs at least another 5k to get it to what i want. Realistically the engine is sound as a pound, the gearbox is fine although i think there's a sensor that needs replacing or cleaning that i can't find.

 

Whoever gets her won't have much to do to get her up to spec but i've just lost interested after all of the setbacks

what went wrong with her last night nick ?

Gearbox decided to stick in 1st gear until i flick the hold button to get it to kick into the next gear and wouldn't go into overdrive. Just a bug in the box unfortunately, works fine today but it was the final straw after the week i'd had.

 

Took me an hour to get back home instead of thirty mins.

 

Plan is i'm going to take a couple of months puttin git back to stock, tidying up the arches and sills and giving it a bit of a makeover then put it up for private sale when the prices start to go back up again when the weather gets better

here Nick do a diagnostic on it could be nowt. only takes 5 mins to do

did it last night as soon as i had the problem, came up with nothing at all

 

idle went up to 2,000 rpm in neutral too

 

Checked the TPS but no problems there either last night, nothing lodged in the throttle bodies

send it down mate im sure i owe you a favour or two.

 

I know how you feel as i have seen alot of people that are passionate about these cars just lose all interest due to constant niggly stuff that just gets them down.

Cheers matey, i'm just worried if i keep using it something major will go and i'll lose a shed load of money on it.

 

I've lost my trust in the car, it maybe good for someone but i don't think it wants me owning it lol

 

If i get chance i'll pop it down to yours for a look see but its going for definate

just a wild one here for you, what about your temp sensor??? seem to remember mine doing simlar just after i got it 6 year ago and it was that, some sort of safty thing on the car, could be wrong though just remember the rev's going up and the gears dint work right.

I'll look it over at some point. i really can't be arsed right now, i had 45 mins sleep last night, had to work this morning and the clocks went forward.

 

Last thing i fancy now is playing around with that car.
