a friend purchased me the manual for a 300, but the one he purchased was one for a Z31 because apparently that's the only manual they make for the 300s. would the information be the same for a Z31 as it is for a Z32?

NO!

Z31 is a completely different car. Virtually nothing is the same as a Z32

very much doubt it! there is a free online manual here

Not looked through the Z31 Haynes manual but since about 99.99% of the Z32 is different to the Z31 its not going to be much good unfortunatly.
