What method have you used to bypass the HICAS pump/solenoid so it can be stripped out after fitting an eliminator bar?

Is it possible to just cut the 2 pipes and join them or isn't there enough length?

Featured Replies

all we did was where the hicas pump is fed from the pot we removed that and where the power steering pump feeds the hicas pump connect it to the pot which makes a full cycle if you know what i mean then you can remove the hicas pump

Simply cut off the head of the forward most hose onto the hicas valve and connect onto the reservoir.

That looks easy enough to do, but for all the thick shits like me do you have a before pic :D

how do you remove everything, i know it has something to do with having an na frame, but what else do you have to do???

On a Uk car you will find instead of a joiner between the valve and the reservoir like in this pic there are 2 hoses going down to a power steering cooler but the process is exactly the same but obviously removes the cooler

All thats needed is a Hicas Eliminator and bypass the Hicas Solenoid.

Is the PAS cooler the 1" sq one in front of the oil cooler?

That's the one, 1" square and about 6-8 inches long

Nice one I wondered what that was. Mine looks about buggered so i think i'll rip it out :)

Already got the hicas eliminator but the fluid is looped back on itself. Need to kill off the solenoid and the dead cooler now :hyper:

You can do the N/A frame bud but that is a huge job just to get rid of it, as you have to get an N/A diff and driveshafts and prop end.

I am working on converting my TT subframe to take toe arms so I get rid of the hicas ball joints as well.

That's how I was thinking of doing it, only by cutting both ends off and using a metal tube to join the pipes.

Cutting the head off makes it soooo much easier!

Cheers :)

I just found a full HICAS removal write-up on Z1 Motorsports site:

They do the pipe join with a threaded metal barrel so the pipes just screw together when taken off the solenoid and it's supplied with their eliminator bar :)

think it looks neater just cutting the hose and clamping it tbh :)

Yeah I was thinking that and it's cheaper too LOL

How easy is it to remove all the pipes from under the car?

Might as well bin them if I can get to them.

not sure myself, iv not done it... though i am wondering why u would want to do it?

When it becomes worn or on higher power cars it can give a squirmy feel to the back end and some people just prefer the car without the rear steering.

If you don't really need it then it's a lot less to go wrong :)

My hicas ball joints have just turned up this week from mjp, I'm thinking while i'm rolling around under the car I might fit a hicas eliminator bar too, 've done one on the skyline, looks pretty much the same.
