Hi,

Seems like nothing but problems with my 300zx. I thought the alternator had gone as the battery kept dying but then I found that the econ fuse had blown. Replaced the fuse and charged the battery but it died again about a week later. Bettery warning light kept coming on intermittantly. I dropped it to an auto spark and the alternator is covered in oil. Any ideas where the oil is likely to be coming from? Any one know a good mechanic in Northern Ireland that I can trust with this car?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sounds quite likely as the power steering pump is directly above the alternator. What generally causes them to leak? and is it a big job to fix? anyone any ideas on a garage in northern ireland?

I had the same , covered in oil , thought it was rocker cover gasket leaking it turned out to be the the large pipe on the bottom of the power steering pot was loose :hyper: :hyper:

Just nipped the clip up and jobs a goodun

my alternator is soaked in oil as well, i havnt had a good look yet its either the front crank seal or something else. i thought it was the auto tensioner, but since ive been informed it didnt have an oil feed it cant be that.
