Wow it would look so cool to have 285's on the rear, would it look silly on a 9.5 rim?

Oh and a pic of the tyre.

Can't believe that, I asked about 285's for my rears when I ordered my new set the other day from a local tyre place, and the bloke said I wouldn't be able to put them on because they would stick out beyond the arch and that was illegal. What a twat!! They don't stick out at all do they, might cancel my order and order 285's after all then, as the tyres haven't arrived yet anyway.

same as im running.

235 on the front are better than the 245 tyre if your going to run the car up the strip, narrower the non driving tyres are the better

I've always wondered why you would want a lower profile on the rear and not the same profile for front and rear ?

The profile is a percentage of the tyre width.

Therefore as you have wider tyres on the rear, in order to keep the running circumference and diameter the same you need a lower profile.

So if you have 235/40/18 on the front, the profile is 40% of 235mm (94mm); then having 265/35/18 on the rear, the profile is 35% of 265mm (93mm).

Close enough not to affect ABS sensors etc - geddit?

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Does anyone know if I can get a 285 in a 17? Tried searching for one, but only seem to do 285/35 profile in 18in wheel and larger.

What profile would I need for 17in wheels in a 285, 40 or 35, or something else? Running 265/40/17s at the moment.
