I have a 91 uk spec tt and I need to change the rear studs but I dont have a big enough socket for the hub bolt, can anyone tell me what size the hub bolt is?

You don't need to remove the hub to replace the studs :) There is plenty of room to knock the old ones out and fit the new ones :)

but do i need to take the disc off? and what about the plate at the back??

Yeah disk and handbrake components need removing but thats all - just knock them out with a lump hammer :)
