A lot depends on your local police force some seem hell bent on stopping anyone obtain a licence and make it as awkward as possible, others are a bit more sensible. obviously security is a major factor as is your record, you will also need a good reason to obtain a licence........ "because I like guns, an I wanna shoot things"..... aint what they want to hear.

look around your local area for clubs etc clays, or rough shooting syndicates are probably the way for shotties. Because you will need to show that you have somewhere to shoot.

I do smallbore target shooting there are plenty clubs around if you fancy that, and the benifit is that you normally can use club rifles which lets you see if you like it before forking out on your gear

...

I've only really shot paintball guns and air rifles before but even though i've not done that very often considered myself to be half decent. Last weekend went clay pigeon shooting for the first time and hit 20 out of 25. not bad i thought for a first attempt really enjoyed it and quite fancy it as a hobby.

sorry to hijack scoops. Ossain how long you been shooting used to do .22 myself not shot for a while now though. You ever do the scottish Bisley??

About 6 years now, shoot mainly the indoor leagues, but sometimes do inter club outdoor events, ive never done Bisley or the Scottish open though.

was shooting pretty well the previous year, but have been crap this year

mate you got to do Bisly. along way to travel bet a hell of an experiance.

best score on english. match was 596 and a 572 3p

best indoor 25 yard standing was 98 in the yorkshire junior league and best prone ave was 99.1

back home dad had

1 x beretta (pistol thing)

1 x double barrel shotgun

4 x .303 (which our security gaurds had)

and i had a .22 ... fooking awesome

biggest and worst thing i've ever fired and regret it ... and couldnt move for a week was a 350 Remington Magnum

another lovely thing i've tried was a crossbow - but omg did i fail! how heavy and hard! Mate of mine got one for his 21st.. fook that!

man i miss those hunting days!

no idea whats legal to have here... probably an air rifle... if that!

Providing that you have not got a criminal record, with the exception of the odd speeding fine, also providing that you can give proof of where you will use a gun, and you will also have to meet security guidelines with regard to the storage of a gun/guns, you will have very little problem obtaining a shotgun certificate, it is however harder to obtain a class 1 firearms liscence, Ive held both but have now surrendered the firearms liscence. the best way to see if its for you is to go along to your local clay pigeon club and try the sport out to see if it suits you, these are also good places to meet contacts with regard to going rough shooting.if you need any more info then let me know.

I still have the search warrant / other paperwork from when 15 coppers came round me mums house at 5am with dogs andd their own guns to take my last gun.

No good comes of them.

i had a criminal record fro using a firearm shooting across a public highway with a .22

had aound 10 coppers around my house they were looking for an hour until they found it in the tumble dryer ;0)

Thats good shooting, mine ranges from around 96 to 97 in different leagues this year :( , took on too many competitions and leagues and am having to rush through cards instead of practicing and settling in.

:D Sorry for the hijack

I have got an Air Riffle. Its quite a powerful little begger TBH. its a benjamin legal limit gas cartridge and its a nice well balanced piece of kit with a telescopic thingy. But I think they are going to outlaw them too soon?

Proper shooters are trouble if you have one that isnt licenced. I had one a good few years back and found it hard to sleep at night thinking the old bill would be knocking my door down in the middle of the night.........

bretta 9mm........we've had a little time together..... :x:

Yes me

I have 4 shotguns

a 243 rifle and a .22 semi auto

What do you want to shoot? that can depend on how easy it is to obtain your licence.

I used to own 3 shotguns a glock 17 9mm and a 6" barrelled satin chrome smith and Wesson 686 .38/.357magnum. as far as shotguns go you get a form from your local main police station two sets of passport photos and fill the form in.

as far as firearms go in this so called free country of ours forget it!! dont even get me started i had to hand in both my pistols and was so gutted i got rid of my shotguns too... f**kin government..
