guys

have seen a few of these on ebay :hyper:

are the ebay ones any good? i know the origional ones are harmonically balanced, are the ebay ones balanced??

or is it better to go for an sgp or unorthodox pully if so where is the cheapest place :D

cheers guys

Featured Replies

no the ebay ones are shite and the only use for them is curling or for an ash tray

you need to spend the money to get a propor SGP or Unorthodox

cheers bud, better safe than sorry as i well know,

will get on to ther traders for a price

I have an ebay one and I know someone else who does too. No probs at all. For starters its machined on a CNC lathe, so precision is of high quality. And also, its so close to the centre of roatation of the crank, if it was to be slightly unbalanced, it would hardly be noticeable.

Fook paying for an unorthodox one, but then thats my opinion.

yeah i know there are some people with ebay ones - but its too much of a risk to take - some are good quality, some are shite quality. IMO of course ;)

Theyre all made from the same ally bud, if its been lathe or cnc lathe machined I doubt it will be out of balance. For a start there would have to be major probs with the manufacture of the material to get the density off so it went out of balance.

Ive got an ebay pulley, its made of the same stuff as unorthodox...why the diff in price...name thats all.

Either way its a good mod :D

I've got an ebay one and seems like a goodin, but I agree with SkylineDave.

mark & rainbow where did you get your from what ebay seller??

i cant understand how they could be out of balance if they are are machined out of billet alluminium??

the only place i can think of will be the key!!

where there is a cut out for the key it will be unbalanced as the cutout for the key is replaced with a heavier material & a very slight unbalance will ensure unless they have compensated for this!!

hope this makes sense LOL!!

Does on ebay don't have the timing mark ;)

I bought one on ebay that i sold and finally get one SGP from smithy ;)

Best way to go and not very expensive (around £100 if i remember weel)

You dont need timing marks on that pulley, you're thinking of the one that holds the timing belt.

Unorthodox does have the timing marks where as the ebay ones dont !

to be honest we have fitted a few ebay ones and there not that bad apart from they need a little adjustment on the keyway.

still get unorthodox ones if you want the name but tbh neither are that good as they having no damping qualities so dont help your crank much.

what do you mean by damping qualities bud?

are the origional dampped in any way?

yes the original dampers do what they say and protect the crank from any unwanted vibrations where as the pulleys are just that and dont offer any protection at all but just drive the belts.

show off   :D

Bought them just can't afford the time or money to fit them but look nice on me desk

They're going in when i pick up my new koyo rad and gearbox oil cooler

Thats a good point bud,

I had to open the keyway just a little to get it to take, been fine ever since.

nah! they would look a lot better on mine :D :D

hey im fitting an oil cooler & new rad too, really fancy that new ash spec one

The Key way is the one thing that most have to alter to fit, i've seen 2 broken in this area as well. Fraid the statement "they are all made from the same stuff, ally" is not correct, there are over 40 different types/grades of ally used for all manner of different applications.

Bloke here recently purchased a moderatly high power Zed with thousands spent on a big rebuild etc, looking down the engine bay you can see the liteweight pulley spinning totally ski wiff, checked the massive receipt book, and yep after spending so much on big name brands, a 30 quid ebay pulley. Car now has some serious knocking issues down below, we dunno what yet

though.

Fraid my moto is that as always used on twinturbo.net, if you have to use ebay to mod yer car for performance, you need a different ride, IMO of course :D

It was a long time ago m8 when I got mine but I'll try and track them down.

This is a picture of the belts I got with the sizes on them.

This is the same one but I got mine in the UK.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BOMZ-90-96-Nissan-300ZX-FairLady-Light-Weight-Pulley_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38656QQitemZ140095057643QQtcZphoto
