What is the point of an audible sound that your pads are low which only sounds at 100mph and cant be heard if ICE is booming.

Can it be changed?

Is there an audible brake pad warning?

Are you sure you're not hearing the 'excess speed' warning that the Jap. imports have? If so, that can easily be disabled.

Dave

I have an import with with that annoying excess speed warning how can I disconnect it ?

Thanks

Paulr

What a prat... I believed the Z expert that replaced my engine that its the brake pad warning alarm. This forum is just great. Now I know that it means I am driving to excess I think I will leave it...Great....

Not sure I follow this one. I have a Jap import and the audible low brake pad warning is a 'tab' of soft metal which sticks out from the metal 'base plate' of the brake pad. When the pad is worn down enough, this tab touches the disc and creates a squealing noise.

It's not electrical - it's mechanical and dead naff ! However, it does work !

Maybe there's a different system on later cars (mine is a 1990).

P.S. I don't have the warning any more as I've changed to Porterfield Carbon / Kevlar

Dave can you confirm that web address again as I can not seem to get it

Hairsy, I also have an import, a K-reg. When I lightly touch the brakes I hear a quiet squeal, but it goes away with any real pressure on the pedal. Could this be the same thing, or would the squeal persist with any brake pedal pressure?

Thanks

Raz
