I saw that programe the other night and bassicly it says, yes there is global warming, but NO its not caused by HUMANS.

supposidly we contribute somthing like 0.000.1% to it or somthing or other he was saying.

You know what really gives me the shits, the fact that we as a country are becomming overcrowded to the point as Lets Drift was saying we have to build on wet lands to house all the immigrants comming over here. Why the **** should we wipe the arse of every other country that can't be ****in bothered. We send tax payer money to India to build schools when they can afford to build their own, but can't get our own education system in order.

 

We allow half the world to come to our shores to get medical help when we can't look after our own elderly, our leaders are far too interested in following an arragant idiot into war when its not needed and wasting British lives for people who didn't ask for help.

 

They need more money for the war machine that bush (notice no capitol for his name, such is my regard and dislike of him) and his ego have built so they cut back on health, education, transport and every other public service to pay for it. Then they invite the rest of the world to our shores in the vain hope that they can claim more tax from more workers.

I saw that documentary the other night too.

Apparently volcanos produce more CO2 than humans each year!...They reckoned most of the CO2 gasses are emitted from the sea.

Solar activity has more effect on our climate than anything else and rises in temperatures are linked to solar wind activity.

It was only 30 years ago that they reckoned we were heading for another ice age!

I think these things come in cycles and the politicians and the global warming industry scaremonger the public to bleed us of yet more money!

The Earth has indeed gone through several cycles over millions of years. However, mans polution of late is not totally to blame, and polution from the industrial revolution, at the same time as as krakatoa and other volcanoes were erupting, was shown to actually help to cool the earth by blocking the suns rays and filtering Ozone! so much so, that Professor Paul Crutzen won the Nobel Prize for suggesting one of the 5 ways, was to shoot rockets into space to release a 'sulphur screen'... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/6369971.stm

 

Whilst i appreciate we all need to make an effort, the UK needs to look beyond our Island bubble!......Until we can get emerging third world nations, (India, China etc ) to follow our lead we will never make a difference...most of Eastern Europe are still using coal fired power stations for example, never mind the polluting inneficient cars they drive!

 

Also most oil rich nations, like the U.S, Saudi arabia, kuwait, as well as the United Arab Emirates, where i have lived, would consider our 3.0 twin turbo's a bit micky mouse! Everyone there drives 5 litre chevvy gas guzzlers and fills them up for less than a quarter of the cost we do here in the UK! If i feel guilty driving the Z, then i look to these examples and i feel that i am more than doing my bit, as the Z is also a second car now and only used at weekends!

 

If the hike in fuel taxes or carbon emissions was linked to funding assistance of emerging countries to learn from our mistakes, and help them pollute less, or stop us shipping 15,000 tonnes a week of our rubbish to china, (http://www.guardian.co.uk/waste/story/0,12188,1308278,00.html) that is as well as our polluting industrial equipment, then i wouldn't mind so much. As it stands, i feel its all just a political smokescreen to fleece me of even more hard earned money, just for going to work!! :smash:

But invading countries and killing families/women/children, we are made to believe that the people who do this are heroes???

More than anything else this planets main worries are the people at the top who run the countries.

In the U.S, illegal immigration is very bad in Arizona. There has been numerous cases of unsolved child abduction (for prostitution in Mexico) and hundreds of murders in the last few years. Many of them rob someone then call imigration on themselves and will have a free bus pass back to Mexico. It is getting absolutely rediculous.

its a sad sad world at the moment. But since i cant do anything about it im just going to keep ignoring everything im told by goverment officials and kep doing what i believe.

 

And maybe one day we wont have such a corrupt stinking goverment. Read earlier on that an average person will spend £1420 on fuel in a year, and £1134 goes straight into gordon browns pocket......

As already pointed out, we as a species are not totally responsible for Global warming. We are in a period of global warming, called an interglacial period which means a warm period between glacial periods, (ice ages) its a natural phenomenan that will reapeat its self over and over again, due to the green house effect which is also a natural phenomenon caused by Volcanic activity, Solor activity, variasions in the earths orbit etc, which has been occurring for millions of years before man set foot on the planet, all we are doing as a species is speeding up the process with the burning of fossil fuels, producing CO2 which stays in the atmosphere a long time, felling woodlands and the rain forests reduces the CO2 being taken out the atmosphere, Trees are the best filters nature invented (so go and plant a Tree) As Global warming is a natural cycle, so therefore an ice age will follow, the last one being only 10,000 years ago

There is a solution to the problem, everytime you drive your car, take a flight or turn on your central heating I want you to paypal me large sums of money and make me rich.....Sounds like a joke?... well thats the only solution the government offers, there are very good ideas to reduce carbon emissions but that would mean spending money instead of just taking it off us under the green tax excuse...The government must be laughing their socks off at us. We drive because we need to get around, we need to get to work, we make tons of rubbish because manufacturers force too much packaging onto us, we use electric and gas because we need heat and light, we dont decide how power is generated we just have to use it, we have no controll over these things so why is it poor old joe public that is penalised and bled dry for it, why should you feel guilty for taking the family on a holiday once a year when politicians drive jags and jet all over the world at our expense.

Fook em I say its the biggest con in history and everyones falling for it...

and anyway if that big fella under yellowstone park blows its top or we have a major metiorite strike then its nuclear winter time for us all anyway.

The weather here is completely different to what I remember growing up in the 70's. We used to get hot summers which lasted longer than a day, as they do now, and cold winters with lots of snow which didn't melt within 48 hours. I have seen changes in only 30 years, so I really am concerned about where we'll be in 50 more years' time.

I think it's selfish to say "I will be long gone by then" because if our grandparents and great-grandparents had had the same attitude over WWII then most of us wouldn't be here now. But hey - we're in the 21st Century now so it's cool to be selfish - right? :rolleyes:

A volcanic eruption causes more CFC emissions than the rest of the world combined,as there are less volcanic activity now than in the past then there it is less likely that we are causing the greenhouse effect. We have to remember that the study off CFC Gasses is a fairly new science and that even studies of carbon deposits in the polar ice caps are inconclusive.

Agree totally mate, over here in the UK we are being totally brainwashed by a lot of unfounded mumbo jumbo. I know in the US you have Bush to put up with but you know whats what when it comes to global warming. Now we have bird flu coming but that has been around for hundreds of years. Its like when people hear of a murder close to where you live,"never happened before" but thats because you never had the same media coverage before, its been going on for years/

the climate is changing yes agree ..and it has been for millions of years its called evolution..there has been ice ages before and there will be again , they are inevitable , we can only slow it down perhaps by a few decades only ...and what is that in the great time lapse we call history ........a heart beat thats all , its all hype just like Y2K ....goverments have eventually found a way of taxing the weather and that is the top and bottom of it .............tax on air fares ..what is that all about ..if Tony Blah realy wanted to help he wouldnt tax more ..how is that going to lessen polution ?? he should remove ban stop or whatever one in every ten flights ....one in every ten trains .limit houses to two cars max .instant ten percent reduction in so called polution ( but a 10% reduction in tax income so no way that is going to happen then ) ..........its all Bolox and i cant wait for the labour councilors to come banging at my door in re ellection time .anybody on here that voted for that lot to get in should be bloody ashamed of themselves now , they have done more harm to my beloved counry and the land my children will inhereit in the last ten years than anything else put together ................rant over
