Ok so on my private road when i kick down real fast at about 95 to 100mph the engine revs to the red line with no drive from the autobox. (new 10,000 miles ago). Backing off the throttle and feeding it in gently brings the drive back.

I have done the whole oil level thing and am beginning to think it is something to do with my Speedo KPH / MPH converter but am really clutching at straws here. Anyone had this problem themselves and solved it?

Thanks

Silly question, but have you got all the gears when you pull away, and gentley accelerate through the gearbox, or does it skip 1??

you up in Andy Duff's territory, ask him to do a manual conversion that will solve the problem :D

All my gears work perfectly in non kickdown mode and it shifts smoothly through the box at all other times whether in overdrive or not. The issue is in overdrive at 95 - 100 and above kickdown results in loss of drive to wheels and revs to redline. When I back off and feed in the pedal more gently it does what I want it to. Of course it is dangerous not to have the response when you need it so I want to fix it. Could it be a faulty throttle position sensor?

I don't want a manual conversion because all my other cars are manual and i want the fast-auto-GT-ness that is the 300zx auto

Needs to go to a gearbox specialist for the system to be flushed through
