My car arrives next week and I need to confirm a couple of things that I've absent mindedly forgotten about.

1. Car Tax - How much is this gonna cost me?

2. Vehicle registration - How much is this gonna cost me?

2b. What Post office form do I need to complete for this

The car should be delivered next Wednesday...

no SVA unless its under 10 years old.

You need an MOT first, then to get it registered. You will get tax when you register it, and to register you will need to go to your local DVLA office, it is not something which can be done at the post office. You will need the MOT and japanese De-registration papers for this.

didnt think you could import cars from japan that are less than 10 years old?

The red car in my sig pic is 4 years old (and written off at the mo) and I imported it 3.5 years ago.

Back to thread. Yes you only need a SVA test if the car is less than 10 years old and you have access to a type aproval certificate. If it is less than 10 years old and there is no Type approval or the holder refuses to lease it to you you would need a SVEA and this usually costs around £2500 where a new Type approval cert would cost about £7000.

Think you may need insurance also ?

Yes you do need insurance,

as for the 10 year old thing,it's only if there is no vehicle report that it becomes a problem ie a 300zx as they were never sold here after 95?

Paul.
