I've just bought a set of UK wheels with "nearly new" tyres but one of the rear KUMHO ECSTA tyres is not even legal.

 

I want to fit tyres that will do a decent mileage but most of the threads I have searched only seem to recommend soft rubber performance tyres (which have relatively low mileage??) rather than general all weather hard rubber tyres (that have high mileage??).

 

I don't want to pay Michelin prices, although they have given excellent mileage on previous cars I've owned, I only want to pay budget prices.

 

Can anyone please advise me of suitable tyres?

I am guessing the Dunlops would be too pricey for me!

not sure on milaege as i drive quite hard at times, and i always thought they were a top of the range budget tyre

 

have you thought about part worns???

kumho ecstas sound great for you then chap, a good price and a relatively good tyre. dont go budget brand or you will pay for it in the end!

I had Toyo Proxes T1R's on my UK spec wheels. Excellent performance in both dry and wet conditions and I got about 20k miles out of the rear tyres and I sold the front ones at 28k miles and they still had plenty of thread on them. Oh, and I don't drive like a granny either ... ;)

 

I am just about to buy a new set of Toyo Proxes T1R's for my new alloys.

I contacted then some weeks back about 452's in 245/45r16 but they said that size had neot been release yet. They did say they had some 451's left although I couldn't find them on their web site. May be worth email/phoning them chap.

I really love these tyres and always use them too. Only got 8,500 miles out of rears tho and 12,200 out of fronts!! Just about to replace all round.

Not having good luck with my replacement 245/45R16 tyres. I ordered 2 x Kumho Ecsta's from TyreTraders over the weekend but they phoned this morning to say there was only one left in stock :headvswal :headvswal

 

They offered me 2 x Goodrich G's for the same price (saying that would be £30 under their normal price) but I'm not sure whether Goodrich are any good. I've looked on the Goodrich site and they look O.K. and they give them a decent write-up (but then they would, wouldn't they).

 

Does anyone have any opinions about Goodrich 'G' tyres.......or does anyone have ONE decent part worn Kumho? :bow: :bow:

bf goodrich are a leading tyre manufacturer, try them, im sure you wont be disappointed, especially with a discount like that :)

i have 225/50/16 f1's on the front and 245/50/16 nankangs on the rear (wrong size i know), in the dry i couldnt complain but trying to accelerate in the wet is a total different story! u ever seen a car goin sideways in a straight line at motorway speeds?! good job the gf doesnt scare easily! i wouldn't even TRY to take a corner quickly coz i would just pirouette into a tree!
