You have to remember Daz this is my first time and I just wanted to move every thing that I could to make it easy to see around the engine plus im going to be changing the injectors. And if its till on offer I might give you a call if I get stuck

lol cheers Pete that put a smile on my faceI have just raised it up so now I'm going to get on with taking the prop, exhaust and gear box off. I must be crazy

I always leave the gear box on the engine and pull them out together also I just let the prop shaft slide out and lay supported on a stand that way you only need to take half the exhaust off and you don't have to deal with the heavy gear box under the car. To do it this way you need a good high engine lift.

Good luck with the operation matey, alway something i've fancied doing myself but haven't had the balls, the engine hoist or the right workplace to do it :D

No probs dude, looks like you got it licked!

Nice one Chris , only advise i would give is LABEL EVERYTHING and keep the bolts segregated and labeled for each use they have , makes life sooo much easier when it,s all going back in

What's the pros and cons leaving gearbox on the engine? I have got to get the engine out of mine for the 3rd time lol, but both previous times have split and removed gearbox first.

Who else lifts out engine with gearbox attached?

Done it both ways and tbh these days, the two get split before removing. Too much weight and very awkward manouvering when you've got the box on the back...

as Andy says it a lot easier to manage with gearbox out and if you have them both attached i believe you have to lower the subframe for clearance which can affect the geometry when refitted.and with a manual box its a hell of a lot lighter lol

Have had an idea about the alignment issue but I need to try it before it gets aired on here for all to see ;) TBH though how many Zeds are there that are actually running the correct geometry in the first place? lol ;)

Will keep you all post on how I get on with my re-build. Plan's are for around 550 / 600 BHP, Suspention mods and possible solid prop shaft
