The one inisde the drivers footwell, it's all very wet in there and the connectors had water dripping out of them when I pulled them apart. Is this likely to be coming in through the scuttle somewhere or windscreen or is there another likely reason? anyone had a similar problem before.

The long story ...........

I found the problem because my battery kept going flat after a few days, it was fine if I drove it every day. Anyway I did a bit of experimenting and thought I had an altenator fault, but my multimeter told me a different story. Battey was 12V and altenator was charging at 14.3V when the engine was running. So I turned everything off and checked to see how much current was being drawn with the ignition off. I was suprised to find 1.7A !!!!.

So I started pulling everyhting apart and thought I'd pull the fuses one by one ......... until I heard a hissing noise, you know the sort that makes you think hmmmm that doesn't sound good. Started to disconnect the cables around the fuse box to find water dripping out of the connectors and then the hissing stop.

So I think I've found my long term electrical problem, green plugs and lots of short ccts. Now I just need to rectify it.

My driver side targa has also started to leak after I took the lid off for a day a couple of weeks ago  new rubbers all round me thinks

Had the same problem, turned out the people who put the alarm in had drilled a hole underneath the scuttle panel and then filled it back up with silicone which ws leaking :(

I read a thread on a different forum about someone who had the same prob, turned out to be the drain pipe from the targa was split causing water to run into fuse box. I had a problem with water leaking into multi plug up behind glove box, my problem was more noticable as fog light, head lamps and horn would all switch them self on when it rained also affected cruise control.

I had this problem on the passenger side. A once upon a time trader here re routed my boost controler through the whole were the drain cock for the targas come out of the wing (about 4" infront of and 4" lower than the top door hindge). Problem is that drain cock is a rubber tube with a 90 degree L bow on the other end which the drain pipe from the targa fits into. Buy pushing and pulling at the rubber drain cock the pipe from targa will come out and drip drip drip onto you electrics. Its a B to get to but needs pushing back in.

You'll have to remove the kick pannel the pannel under the steering wheel and a load of block conectors that fasten to the inner wing buy the bulkhead. I find reclining the drivers seat then sitting in it upside down the most comfortable way to prob around up there.

Thanks for the pointers guys, I'll have a good look on a dry day and try all the different places to see where it's coming in.

Thanks for heads up guys. I got the new door and targa rubber today so fitted them. Poured water over the roof and hey presto no drips on the seat so that's one job done, but noticed water p**sing into the drivers footwell via my fuse box again. Took it all apart and found it was indeed the targa pipe that had disconnected from the tube that takes the water out near the wing, so it was pouring into the car instead.

It was a hell of a job to get it back, the tube had shrunk (I assume with age) and no amount of pulling got is near the outlet pipe. I ended up cutting some of the outlet pipe and using this to connect an extension to the tube. Anyway, a bit of a Heath Robinson job, but it works and no more water leaking into the fuse box. I now have the carpet up and the dehumidifier running in the car.

So thanks once again, it would've taken ages to find the problem without the pointers.
