Chaps and Chappettes

Booted up the computer this evening as i couldnt sleep and the computer came up with a couple of critical system errors. First of all was a dreaded trojan virus (dont worry mods i wasnt online when i found out)

Ive got both AD-AWARE Se and AVG on the computer and ive done complete scans with both, and removed all of the threats to the computer.

Ive rebooted the computer and its still coming up with a non critical system error stating that there are still spyware programs effecting my computer.

i cant think of anything else i could try to do to get rid of them

PLEASE HELP

cheers peeps

no probz nick. this one will do the job better than the others.

go here and download then save to desktop.

ftp://dnl-eu2.kaspersky-labs.com/trial/registered/3NKDGRXIM7FJ5ZTSIAFW/kis6.0.2.614en.exe

then disconnect from internet.

uninstall avg, its not doing its job.

you may need to restart if so, then restart.

install kaspersky suite, its fully functional for 30 days.

you may need to restart if so restart.

connect to internet and it should automatically update, also it may pick up some of the crap on its startup objects scan, if it does allowit to delete them.

in the bottom right of your menu bar you will see ea red 'k' click on that and the kaspersky screen comes up, click the service to the left and you will see below it update, click update and 'update now' incase it didnt automatically update.

now click on the settings next to the green tick on the top right of the kaspersky screen.

click on the word scan in the left menu, on the rightside halfway down in the action setting you can see the word' do not prompt for action' click in the round button next to it, it will turn green, below that it says 'you can apply the specified settings to all scan tasks' and theres an apply button next to it, click the apply button.

next click on 'service' in the left hand menu bar again and on the top right it says 'enable notifications' untick this.

now close the window and we will do a complete computer scan.

in the main window for kaspersky click the scan bar on the left.

then click 'my computer' just below it, on the right a list of scan options comes up make sure all the boxes are ticked.

then to the right of that you have 'actions' then below that 'scan' hit the scan button and come back later when its finished, it will automatically scan everything on your pc and remove it, then restart and let the startupscan re-checkthings.

if you get stuck let me know.

once a system is compromised you can never be sure that it is completly free. with out doing a format and reinstall kaspersky is your best bet

i left the computer on last night and run simultaneuos full system scans with the AVG and ad-aware. came back to it this morning and found that the AVG had picked up 1 trojan virus and with ad aware had picked up 247 critical programs!!!!!
