car was running perfect then it ran a bit rough so cleaned the PTU ever since I cleaned it - it has failed to start at all.

I have today got a PTU and a new temp sensor and the damn thing wont start at all still, it really tries to but wont quite

any ideas

every plug on the engine looks connected and I havent messed with anything apart form the old PTU cant understand why afterwards it wouldnt start at all

Sounds like you haven't got the PTU connectors on properly...

you havent put the ptu connectors on the wrong way have you

could be corroded wires on PTU connectors or loom hence why it started running rough, and now you have disturbed it the wires may have broken. Do an ecu check to see if any error codes come up. (code 21) if ignition circuit.

you cant 1 side has 6 pins the other side has 7 :)

hi mate I know I already did one before I replaced ecu

had code 21 ign fault

temp sensor and det sensor

havent redone on eyet though since fitted new stuff as Ive ran out of day light

ta chris

just an idea, dis-connect the battery and leave it over night ECU will re-set, connect battery back up in the morning and try to start it if it still wont start then do ECU check then any new faults will register

hi I have now got a code 55 but the damn thing wont start

it tries but wont

gonna check the plugs

when I checked one yesterday it was soaked

tried the F pump fuse out thing no difference

No spark is usually the CAS, the round alloy block opposite side to the PTU. Mark/scribe where the bolts mount in the CAS bracket, undo all 3 and remove CAS, Turn iginition on and with CAS still connected to electrical plug, turn the spindle at the back slowly, you should here a few clicks of the injectors as you turn the spindle, no clicks, CAS is likely to be shot. if yer hear clicks then put back in same position before you removed it and fit bolts as per the marks/scribe you made.

soaked plugs tends to suggest it was flooding when trying to start, the temp sensor is likely cause of that, reason for removing the fuel fuse is to dry things out a bit when trying to fire up and she would normally start, albeit rough after about the 4th or 5th try.

I had this problem when I got my zed. Have you left the battery neg off for an hour to reset the ecu?

1) Are you sure your new ptu is good?

2) Check spark at every cylinder.

3) Check CAS for fuel clicking at all cylinders.

4) Sure you have fuel pressure? (unlikely as the plugs are soaked).

5) Disconnet the batt, then unplug and reseat the ecu connector.

6) Or It may turn out to be old broken EFI loom (mine was). Try cranking while a friend wiggles all the wires/ unplugs-replugs connectors.

When you say 'tries to start' is this just the starter motor turning, or does the engine occasionally catch but wont hold?

ok the only thing Iv ever messed with is the ptu why would the CAS have anything to do with it

?

the car deff tries to fire whether its only on all cylinders as some plugs were dry when I took them out but some were wet

CAS can go at literally anytime whether yer messing with it or not.

Even second hand running PTU's can be removed from one 1 zed and to another to find it no longer works, I know once with my own that was the case.
