Hi,

Anyone know of an easy way of cleaning up that grey mastic/good that sticks the headlights together?

Cheers

don't think I'll be able to use wd40 as the bodyshop that has my car won't let anyone use it in the workshop (something to do with silicone in the air and it getting on the bodywork)

I don't think WD40 would touch it personally. This is mastic and has different properties to the stuff used to seal the rear lights. Apart from scrapping it off, I'm not sure.

With scrapping it though I'm not sure if it would work best warm or very cold, as warm it'll go gooey, but cold it might hold more to the casing.

Yeah, it's the grey stuff. Nail varnish remover?

Stick the light in the freezer or fridge and it will enable you to cut it off with a stanley knife.Do not try solvent or heat as it will not work.Beleave me I have done a few lights in the past.

Should be careful as if you need to stick something back on to the surface that you are using WD-40 to clean with, it'll be a bitch! :wack:

never done a head light, but used petrol on the rear lights if its the same sort of stuff as the black mastic used on the rear's then it just melts away when in contact with the petrol
