You may have seen a discussion on the Silverstone thread about the PARADE speed. A number of members, including myself, have expressed concerns that the maximum planned speed of 100mph is unsafe for such a large number of cars (maybe 170+), many of which will have non-experienced drivers.

I appreciate that many of you could cope with this speed comfortably and safely, but being surrounded by inexperienced drivers could, in my opinion, be a danger to us all.

I am therefore posting this POLL to ask those of you who plan to attend the Silverstone Show to vote on what you consider the MAXIMUM parade speed should be. You may vote only once and your vote will NOT be made public.

Bear in mind that there is a seperate 'track' event specifically for Zeds when the speeds will be unlimited. I believe these laps should be used by those wanting to have a burn-up but the PARADE laps should be just that, a parade to show off our beautiful Zeds to the general public (and beat that 108 skylines record).

Cheers - Dave

Leave it to the experts. I'm ure they know what they are doing.

Looking forward to this now looks like it will be a parade what ever speed we go at. Surley we won't go past the stands at a great speed cos no one will see the cars.

Darrell

ANYONE who has driven around silverstone will know that 100mph on the straight feels slower than 30mph on a normal road! I really don't see the worries here? I'd have more concerns about the brakes of the car behind than the top speed down the straight ;)

Just to add. Surely the slower cars will be at the front. Therfore with the no overtaking rule we have to stick to the speed they set. Keep up with the guy in front at a safe distance and it will OK.

The whole thing is behind a pace car driven by a trained and approved driver who has more parades than we have had hot dinners

It will be him who decides what is a safe speed to drive at

End of story

What amazes me is the number of people (43)who have put thier opinion up even though they have not put thier hand in thier pocket and paid up the paltry £12.50 ticket fee

20 sole 300zx.co.uk members booked in the remaining are either joint members or sole Z Club members

This is a little bit off topic

Also what also is a real shock is that out of the 14 (yes only 14) out of the 62 track sessions are by 300zx owners

And what is even more of an eye opener is that out of those 14 only half of them are sole 300zx .co.uk owners and the other half is made up of members of joint Z club/300zx.co.uk and Zclub members

All you guys who post up on here that they want track days are you just keyboard track drivers or are you the real thing

Hey guys what sort of drive floats your boat the one on the track or the one in your computer

From the numbers coming from here I think I know the answer to that

Rant over

Stands back for either the verbal abuse or a flood of people booking in

I can't believe people are still worrying about the speed limit! Considering how wide the track is those speeds will be slow!

PS Would love to come I'm going to the Nurburgring and Spa that week so Louise would kill me if I spend another day with the car

Cant wait for the parade. :) I'm sure the pace will be right and we will all have fun.

As for track days, no chance i'm taking the zed out into the bedlam on one of those, sorry! :) Will enjoy the show though.

All that would achieve is the ones who WANT to create their own rules for the event and don't care what anyone else thinks or wants, get to ACT as their very own pace car. What experience have they EVER had on a track or for that matter as a pace car????? Sorry but this thread shouldn't even exist!!!!

Spot on Steve! Funny how this was an anonymous poll

After all the effort and carefull consideration that has gone into organising this event, I see NO reason why you should recieve any abuse

This isn't Trax ;) Why not use the opportunity to get to know your cars characteristics a little better and learn how it reacts when pushed a little closer to 'the edge' ;)

 Steve, if you want to have a laugh about track time, check how many have put their names down for the track time at japfest  More than on here ;)

Now lets see, a narrow pissing twisty circuit like castle combe, or a nice wide flowing circuit like silverstone.... I know where I'd rather find my cars limits....

Couldnt agree more.

Well, the poll has ended and I have to say I am surprised that 17 of the 44 members who voted would be willing to travel at 100mph along the start/finish straight at Silverstone along with 150ish other Zed's, many (like myself) who would have no experience of driving under these conditions.........however, that is their vote to which they are entitled.

HOWEVER, the average result of the poll shows that the maximum speed should be 76.6mph, somewhat lower than the 100mph currently planned. I trust the parade organisers will take note of this result and inform us of a moderated planned maximum speed so that we can all feel safe taking part in this splendid parade.

I'm sure the 17 who voted for 100mph will take advantage of the available planned track time and travel at whatever maximum speed their Zed's can manage. At least they will be joined by other like minded drivers.

Will they have stannah stairlifts at the venue, I am scared of falling down the stairs

It's comments like this that makes it necessary for some common sense to be brought to this forum from time to time.

Here's some common sense people who want to go slow stay at the back of the parade, people who want use their cars at less than 70% of their capacity go to the front!

Everyone else wrap up in cotton wool, you never know when them meteorites will hit planet earth!

You should talk to Fuggles, he might take up your idea! BTW have you signed up for the track time?

I'm tired of you dave, I'm not going to do contribute anything more to this thread because I think it is attracting negative attention to something that is positive, Dave if you really want to engage in a polite conversation with me then do so on the day!

In the meantime I would just like to say one thing

WELL DONE JOHN FUGGLES AND STEVE BURNS

I second that Topless, this thread has been totally negative and disruptive to a well organised and well planned event.

Sorry just caught up with this thread after my period in the ice compartment :D

This thread is purely REDICULOUS!!!!! You will see on the day that you will be doing damn close to 100mph without even realising it! To use the results from a poll (which has been voted on by people NOT even attending the event!) to try and push the organisers into changing the plans for an already very well thought out and planned event is WRONG!

What next? A vote on how many sugars people are allowed in their cup of tea at the AGM?????
