Hi all..

I am considering buying a set of 19" alloys for my SWB N/A, that has HKS hyper damper adjustable lowered suspension fitted.

I was only going to consider fitting a maximum of 18's, so as to not ruin the handling etc. but a set of 19's have become available.

Are there any drawbacks to fitting 19's on a lowered zed? Opinions appreciated.

Many thanks, GUMBALL.

contact madmarco he has some on his swb na. i personally think 18's max on a swb also the ride will be well too hard. mine is bad enough on 17's but i do have hill climb shock on it LOL

I had 18's on my swb na, with 265's on the back, and I think that was perfect - I wouldn't have wanted any bigger. I had it on stock shocks but with Eibach -30mm springs, here's a pic:-

The ride was firm to harsh, any bigger rims and I think I'd have found it too much - but of course that's just my personal opinion.

HTH :)

fook my opinion then

:D

 :o

Sorry Gary.. Thanks for your help also.. I will PM him.

I think you are right about 18's being the max..

Many thanks

I have 19s on mine and don't think there is any difference in ride quality, it goes around the bends better than my old standard 16s.

IMO Peach's SWB was fookin lovely! Those wheels gave it a nice 'sleek mother****er' stance, whilst still retaining a standard type look.

But then again I've never owned a SWB!

Thanks very much :)

In hind-sight, I REALLY regret selling her. I'd have been SOOOOOOOOOO much better off keeping the shortie and getting a runabout for the family.

Oh well, I think she went to a good home and hopefully the new owner (SteveR - on here but not active) will get her out to some shows in the summer so I can see her again :(.

Big worry would be how good are the roads round where you live as a deep pothole can ruin one.

Bubbles old car on 19,s and KYB shocks but i don,t know the drop , looks the mutts nutts to me

My N/A had the 19's on when I bought it. A first they seemed a bit over the top but they have grown on me and now I think they look perfect. This is my first Z so I cant comment about how it would handle with 18's but it seems to handle pretty damn good to me. I've managed to scare just about everyone I've taken for a drive! The way it takes corners at high speed with no drama is really impressive. As far as lowering it, coilovers will be my next mod. I'm running 275/30 in back and 235/35 in the front. Only have about two fingers of space between the tire and arch in the back so wont be able to lower it much without some serious rubbing problems. Plenty of room in the front though.

my mate bought bubbles's car looks great with the 19s but i think you defo need adjustable tension arms especialy on the fronts

I think you can achieve almost the same look with 18" wheels and a little lowering.

Also think how much cheaper the rubber is on 18"s, something to bear in mind...

All personal opinion but I think 19s are just too big for the Zed. They make it look like a tractor IMO :wack:

Well I paid less than £500 for all my 19s, 2x 235 and 2x265

Falkan 452s

Falkan 452s

fair play, that's not as bad as I imagined...

can get kuhmo tyres for £300 delivered 235's and 265's.

they might be a ""budget"" tyre but they are almost half the price

Wifes Zed with 19's and lowered on H&R springs with KYB struts :

The back sits lower than that normally, its just the angle of the road its on.

I paid around the £100 mark per tyre for the Excellent Falken 452's in 245 and 265.

tried to buy those wheels off legrath myself but unfortunately somone else has already asked for them.

Lovely wheels and really suit the zed
