They wont.

Its $dollar$ not sport and quite frankly fuck this for 2 hours wasted on a Sunday afternoon.

Its quite obvious that Ferrari and Montezemelo and not Schumacher call the shots.

Joke and mockery.

Twats.

yup a load of crap, unfortunately money is where its at.

I recon they just lost a shed load of viewers.

Hi Martin mate smile.gif

Well:

Rubino all weekend kicking ass.

Race - drove impeccably, hectic race with *nasty* accident and two safety cars.

Rubino 1, Schu 2 - then Rubino pulls over on team orders on the finish line to let Schuey thru frown.gif

A joke, lots of boos and whistles and Schuey gives the trophy to Rubens...

FFS if a driver will do ANYTHING to win then fair enough, thats racing, but some asshole in an office in some fucking wine region of Italy calling the shots can go fuck his own greasy arse.

No disrespect to Italians you understand.

How do you think I feel at work. We bet on the F1 and now we are having a thousand and one queries asking who we are going to pay out the winner on. People are complaining that Rubens would have won, which he would have, and why should the they lose out because Ferrari and F1 in general is now bent as F*&k. Imagine if you put a few hundred quid on Rubens and then that happened on the last corner, you would be well fuming. It happened to me a few years a go with Coulthard and Hakkanen. We will probably pay the winner as Micheal and Rubens. Its costing us thousands having to pay out on 2 winners. This is not the first time it has happened though.

Its now a waste of 2 hours.

WTF? Didn't see it but it sounds like a right old malarkey!!!

WRC is the only motorsport worth a toss at the moment, I hate F1...it's so plastic fantastic!

Anyone up for going to the UK stages in November I think??? I'm mad for it! wink.gif

Word up about the rally! its by far the best...but things like what happened in f1 today happen more in the rally!

but rally is so much better than almost any other motorsport!, i say almost cos i may have forgot something!

See ya

Everyone knows I'm a big Ferrari fan but I must agree, what happened today was well out of order.

I'm not against team tactics per se, but when you are changing the person who will win the race on the last corner, its a bit too far. As Stuart said, similar thing to the McLaren incident in Spain (1998 I think) which I also thought was completely arse.

A very sad day for the sport, I really feel for Rubens, the guy has been driving superbly the last few races frown.gif But as everyone has said, it's all $$$ these days.

I just hope that Michael and Ferrari win the championships asap and let Rubens clean up the last races of the year for himself.

Exactly Andrew.

Now if Schumacher was teamed with a womble who couldn't pilot a Scalextric car then maybe I could understand this shit, but Rubino put the effort and talent in.

He seems to have been rewarded by having a giant Marenello turd dropped on his head frown.gif

I fucking hate F1 I really do.

senna.jpg

Andrew I think it was Austrailia where the McLaren happened. They had an agreement first to the first corner wins.

But really there is no reason for letting Schumacher win. He is miles infront in the championship. I think the only reason they wanted him to win was because this is the only race that he hasnt won.

I feel sorry for Rubens. He is my favourate driver, has been since he driven for Jordan, full of promise. But now he is being crushed by the Ferrari political bandwaggon. Its one thing Ferrari telling him to do it, its his job to do as he is told. But Schumacher didnt have to take the place. If he came second, he would still be in first in the championship 23 points clear.

Usually a sport is ruined by the fans, money or TV. F1 is being ruined by the competitors from the inside.

Stuart

Thats the bad and sad aspect to this Stu, the entire outcome of 2 hours racing was determined not by a driver, pitstop, accident, courage, application or pure skill.. but by some suit playing god.

The whole F1 viewing experience was sterile anyway. This just confirms that.

I think Schumacher behaved like a perfect gent, they were only following orders like everyone has to at work, Schuey did not take the top spot on the podium he also handed Rubens the trophy.

FFS! Fuck, fuck, fucking arse! I seen it now! What is that all about?

Hats off to Michael Shoemaker for doing the decent thing but how the fuck does Rubins(is that how you spell it? LOL) feel after that race?

I disagree with above comment about the WRC and this sort of thing happening! Never in my life following the WRC have I seen anything like the farse that occured today!

Back in the day when Nigel Mansell and Senna and Prost etc. raced I used to follow it avidly but to be perfectly honest it's all about money now. Absolute shite IMHO!

sig.gif

I used to love F1 but with this sort of thing going on nowadays it makes a complete mockery of the whole sport.

Ferrari in front after the first corner and I turned round to my mate and said that's it then Ferrrari have got the 1, 2 in this race.

After the first lap from 2 to 3 was a 1.356 second gap, Ferrari were going to romp it, so that's what makes it boring now, IMHO.

I was in the Sports Cafe on Broad Street in Birmingham waiting for the Birmingham V's Norwich City match to start after the F1 GP, and what a long 2 hours it was watching that pap, they should all have identical cars then you would see who the best drivers are!!

If I was Shoemaker wink.gif I would have slowed down until Ruby murry had crossed the line first, it wasn't a true win, I would have been so annoyed that I had been given the race!!

Well that's enough from me, I'm off to nurse my hangover....

Matty.

He may have let him stand on the podium and give him the trophy. But the trophy would have Schumachers name on it by then. In 5 years time when people look at this race on paper they will see that Schumacher was behind all race and then pipped him to the finish line. People will think the it was a great drive by him when in reality it was handed to him by some one else. Look at the results in a few years time for this race, it wont say

1st M. Schumacher (But Barrichello let him win)

2nd R. Barrichello (He was winning all race but told to move over and let M. Schumacher past)

No it will say

1st Schumacher 10pts

2nd Barrichello 6pts.

Which to me is the worse thing in the world.

Besides I think Micheal only let him on the top podium because the whole crowd boo'd him, and rightly so.

Imagine if that happened in football, letting some one else win on perpose. In horse racing, any one found out fixing a race and its a prison sentence.

Stuart

Stuart, you're right, it was Australia 98. But look how everyone has forgotten about that. This will blow over in time as well, but that doesn't make it right.

This time though, I genuinely believe that Michael had no part in the decision and was as suprised about it as Rubens. They have to do what their employer says, no matter what, the same with all of us in "normal" jobs.

Big PR error. But we will see at the end of the season whether this was wise or not. If Williams come back strong and Schumacher only wins by 3 points, it will seem like an inspired decision. Hard to imagine at the moment (what with Rubens being over 30 seconds ahead after lap 19), but things change quickly.

Ferrari team officials and drivers Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello have been ordered to appear before the International Automobile Federation (FIA) in Paris on 26 June.

"Ferrari will give a reaction to the decision at a press conference on Monday afternoon. "

timmy,

watch the WRC a bit more, you will see, it happens all the time, this season, in fact in the last rally, i forgot who it was, the teams get people to slow down take service time penalties to allow the teammate a better start position. One of the most well documented happenings is (i think it was) carlos sainz, he had to let McRae throughm so sainz drove fast all the way to the finish line and stopped on the finish line for about a minute or so, to give colin time to finish quicker. (pretty sure it was the two named drivers not sure). and I do remember mcrae having to give way too.

Really it happens all the time in rallying, and the drivers are just as pissed off. but its accepted as team orders. it happened last season with burns in many of the stages, teammate had to drive slow to let burns win.

One time, think australia, ford sent sainz out first to clear the road of debris (big shitty stones) this is where colin took a time penalty on service, but the time he lost in the penatly was far outweighed than the time colin would have lost going out on stage first. Sainz was in the lead of the rally at that point, going out first fucked him so he had no chance of winning, ford knew this yet still sent him out.

So disagree all you like, when you watch it more you will see smile.gif

Dont read it as nasty as its not typed nasty, but could be misinterpreted.

apologies for any spelling I cant be arsed re reading it to check

Basically, as soon as big corporations get involved in motorsport it all becomes money orientated. I personally find F1 sends me to sleep quicker than the antiques roadshow. If I wanted to watch a sport that after the first lap is almost entirely decided on team tactics and pit stop times I'd watch the world chess championships.

But I want to watch RACING, and for all you formula one fans out there who've forgotten what that is it involves cars overtaking each other (wooo). Rallycross was pretty good TV viewing, why did they stop showing that? The only good thing I see on terrestial TV these days is the motorbikes.

Have any of you guys ever gone autograss racing? Now that's what I call real, 10 cars abreast from a standing start heading for the first corner on slippery dirt.

I wonder if betting shops can take Ferrari to court?

I dont know, marczxt.

I know that betting shops pay the Football League to allow betting on football, and pay money to the horse racing board to allow betting on the races. I dont know if its the same for F1.

Fact is, F1 is now totally boring, i used to watch it all the time as a kid and loved it. Things started getting boring, then itv got coverage and take adverts only to come back and say you just missed all the action here it is in replay. Ferrari have built a fabulous car no doubt but there is no competition in F1 at all. They would be better off parading round the track for 2 hrs all at same speed with schu at front so people could actually see the cars. We basically know whos gonna win so whats the point getting worked up about it? i gave up on formula 1 ages ago, ive got better things to do for 2 hrs on a sunday than sit and watch cars go round a track for when u know theres going to be nothing exciting at all during the race. frown.gif

At the end of a traffic report I just heard on the way home :

Traffic on the M4 was slow earlier due to a car changing from the fast to slow lane erratically. Police have arrested Rubens Barrichello.

Isn't that what they do already?
