Ok this is different to mine as I have these veilside 320kmph dials. Mine reads 0-4-8 I think.

I think mine reads just below 2. Is that about right?

on idle yes driving no but to be honest the senders get gunked up over the years and they are prone for inaccuracies. get an aftermarket fitted or buy a new sender but be in for a shock they retail at approx £80+ oem spec

It'll be reading in the same arc, but with differant figures. As long as the needle is in about the same place as in the buyers guide, then it should be fine (especially as the standard guage isnt all that accurate in the first place)

some days on mine it will sit on 0 other it will run in the centre of the guage. can be quite worrying. i will get a sender one day i know my engine is a goodun tho.

I would say mines reading a bit below that, around 1/4 from the left when I took it for a spin tonight. What would this indicate?

i would put it down to a dodgy sender tbh. they are well known to be dodgy. ;)

Ya, yesterday i'm sure mine was reading pretty much spot on to how it appears on the buyers guide... just below the central point.

it will flick about just keep an eye on it. when sitting at idle sometimes mine sits at 0 then when still sitting there it will move into the first quater. :p

But if it's a true reading, what would this indicate?

But if it's a true reading, what would this indicate?

low oil pressure. oil pump possibly, low oil etc etc.

My aftermarket gauge sits at about 20-25 when fully warm at idle speed 850rpm, on a cold day when idle is at about 1500rpm at startup the gauge can read as high as 80+.....all off the top of my head.
