All,

as a part of getting another zed i have to satisfy the missus with certain criteria.

The one that is proving the hardest to prove is:

can you get a baby seat into the back of a zed?

if you can, has anyone got any pics so i can show her. In not then it looks like an evo is going to have a white wash on the practicality stakes

cheers

I believe Cona2k is the man to ask about this, he did it with his last one.

I have just bought a 2+2 as I've got a baby on the way - I have easily got the baby seat with the base adapter thingy in the front (facing backwards) with the seat right forwards, and the Mrs will go in the back with plenty of room. I can't get it in the back very well, but when they're old enough to have a forward facing chair it isn't a problem, I've seen loads in Z's.

IIRC the Britax Elite is the one to go for then.

HTH :)

Yep, they do fit as a mate of mine had to put one in her Zed nearly 2 years ago

I have always managed to get them in mine one way or another. More times than not they had to go in the front to be fitted properly though.

Either put them in the front seat or get a car with rear 3 point belts (or fit them yourself)

The seats are that small just stick a harness in there and strap the baby in.

Yes it is possible..............

Not a problem getting the baby seat in mate, the only problem I found is when I tried to push the drivers seat back almost broke the babies legs.lol

passenger side it is then. dont suppose uve got any pics have you

Infant seats won't fit in the back without the front seat folded forward, so no one can sit in front of the infant. As your child gets older and sits in a front facing seat there are still difficulties, as the car seat tends to place the child up and forward so that their legs are in the back of the seat in front of them, still tough to put the front seat back in an upright position. I used to take my daughter around in the back of the Z with a car seat on weekends when my wife was working, keeping the front seat folded forward and secured with shipping tie downs. When they are old enough, about 3, this http://www.dmart2000.com/sa1st5trveha.html worked very well. When my son was about 5 and weighed 40 lbs. and my daughter, 7 1/2 and 45 lbs. I relocated the seat belt mounts so that the belts come up out of the area at the seam of the small square at the bottom of the seat and routed the shoulder belt to come from behind the seat back. The belts fit the kids properly, as if they were in a booster seat, with out the need for the booster seat. Now that they are older I no longer need to tuck the shoulder belt behind the seat back, and it fits them well. If you have any questions shoot me an email I've been dealing with this issue for 6 years now.

Sounds good but our new laws say that kids have to be sat in a child seat until they are about 11!!

pics of the babies broken legs mate?? lol

or pics of a baby seat in place?? if baby seat in place no mate after you have had a screaming baby in your ear for a while and a screaming missus I found it easier to buy a volvo v40 estate to transport kids, will never use the Z for that job again, worst car in the world for kids. IMHO

Ours say 8 years or 80 lbs. until the no longer need a booster seat. But the reason for the booster, is so that the belts sit in the proper position on the kids. Well I moved the belt mounting points and their paths through the seat, so that they fit the kids properly, without the need of the booster seat. I haven't had an issue with the law yet and there are police all about when I drop the kids at school in the AM. I do hope I never have to test how well they'll hold, but they are mounted properly with grade 8 hardware through the chassis and large pan washers to spread the load over a large area, and they sit perfectly on the kids bodies as evidenced in the picture, so I'm confidant they'll perform as they should.

Right i speak from experience here so

Baby seats will fit in the back of a 2+2 as i have had mine from when my boy was 2, a booster seat will not fit in the back but will fit in the front..

Luckily my son is 5 now and closing fast on 4' tall!! so wont need any kind of child seat soon..lol

What make of baby seat did you use in the back ?

Sounds like a really good idea

Britax babyseat will fit into the dip of the rear seat as the have narrow bottoms. We use the Hi-Liner and its fits nice ans snug. I think the fisher price safe voyage seat for new borns fits as well.

I saw a pic on here a few days ago of an interior rear of a 2+2 with a baby seat fitted...Whoever it was was going to post a pic without the baby seat to better show the interior.....might have been a seatbelt query or a re-trim query...i've looked everywhere but can't find it but it's definately here somewhere!

Knew I'd seen it. It was Cona2K....do a search on "remember my old cream interior. now 4 sale" and you'll see the pic...

Only prob is its rear facing so no good for training him/her up on how to drive the Z!!!!!

not too fussed about having it rear facing, it will show the nipper how much faster daddy's zed is compared to the flash tw@t's scooby is from across the road!!! :D

i think ive nicely satisfied that criteria for the time being. The missus loved the old zed ,just hated the bills from when it blew up all the time.

So that makes the scores on practicallity ZED: 1 - EVO: 0,

Ill ive got to do now is worm my way around the reliability issue! :(
