Got this fitted the other day, Was just wondering on things like getting air to it.

I take it i leave the splash guard where it was? Also i think I may of read somwhere about covering or blocking 2 pipes on the N/A as its just lost air ?

Obviously theres a new nose panel with vents in I need to get as well

Hi,

(1) Splash guard: yes, leave this in place as it will reduce the amount of water splashing up onto the filter

(2) Air feed: no need to block any pipes. The filter attaches directly to the AFM (as you know) and there are no vacuum hoses leading to/from the AFM so no need to block anything up. The air feeds coming from the side are more than sufficient to supply all the air that's required

(3) Vented nose panel: This is not strictly necessary as there is sufficient air ingress from the side air feeds and head-on from the front of the bumer. In addition, adding a vented nose panel will increase the chances of water splashing onto the filter through the vents. This may lead to poor running and possibly a knackered AFM if water gets into that.

NB: In case you are not aware, the A'PEXi cone filters are "dry" type filters meaning they do not need to be cleaned and then oiled (like K&N type filters). If the filter is in need of a clean just clean with warm water and a soft brush and leave to dry completely before putting it back on the car.

petey sorry for the hijack, Alright danny, good to see your still in the game mate

If you fit a vented nose panel be very careful.

I had a standard panel and had terrible problems with my twin Apexi's getting wet although they were mounted quite low on a Doolz kit so positioned right under the panel gaps.

They soak up water and go like thick wet cardboard so no air can get in and the car won't even fire up.

They are also a nightmare to dry out - I've had mine in the oven for 2 hours before I could drive!
