going to have to have this done within a few weeks. i have been looking about and have been told that the best local garage for laser alignment charges £25 per adjustment!!! potentially thats 4 adjustments for the front alone!

i haven't had a problem with the rear tyres etc but the front are scrubbing out the inside edge. my tension rods are shot so i have adjustable ones to go on. also getting upper links in a week.

i can adjust the upper links myself to within the stock spec upper arms (caliper them and adjust the new ones to same figure is this acceptable?) but how can i get the tension rods close enough to drive on them?

loads of questions to distract you from "other topics lol.

Six actually if you fit adjustable top arms and tension rods.

Tracking two ends.

Camber two top links

Castor two tension rods.

Just go and see them and get a proper quote.I dont think they will want £150 for the front end. If they do .... find somewhere else.Dont get sucked in to this world of pseudo technology. People were setting tracking, camber and castor angles quite successfully pre laser era.

Nothing at all wrong with manual mirror and lens tracking devices provided they are used correctly.

When fitting the tension rods just wind them to the approx same length as the old ones. Similar with the top arms.

POP really!

Ferkin hell I thought I was old.

Hi.

Had the same problem.

Went to this guy and he sorted it out.

http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/

He even joined the forum.

What they do first is check it for a price then they tell you what adjustments are needed and give you another price.

Worth a look at the site as there are some palces on there that are recommended.

Out of interest have you had the car lowered? I thought mine had been but must just be a problem that gradually get worse as the suspension sags a little.

Got the car a year ago and the tyres on the front were as new except the ineer inch which was down to the canvas.

Put on the upper adjustable arms and had it all set up and have had nop problems since.

Hope it all works out fine in the end.

dont think i need the rear doing to be honest . plus its an NA so dont have the hicas to worry. the tyres on the rear wear evenly across the tread.

£200 isnt an option at the mo lol.

I replaced lowering coil-overs with standard height shocks (it's an NA) and with the lowered springs etc it was eating front tyres. It also had it's suspension setting set at a cost of about £150 to cope with the lowering springs (by the previous owner) - and obviously this wasn't effective.

Once the right height shocks were on (£25 a corner from AndyZ), I asked about having all the suspension set up again - camber caster etc at my local 'fast car specialist'. I knew they hadn't the gear to do it so with a bit of persuasion they told me that the local crash repair specialist did it for them.

I took the car to them and an afternoon later, picked it up, £64 lighter, and everything completely re-set to standard. And since then its driven straight and uneven tyre wear is a thing of the past.

So, bolt all the new gear to the car and book it into a crash repair centre - they'll set it all up and they won't take 'specialist' money off you.

Good luck
