I've had the Zed over three years and it's been great.

I'd be happy keeping it but I'm also tempted to sell it and get a TT Supra instead.

I know there's a bit of 300/Supra rivalry - but is there any real reason not to get one?

I've always quite fancied one.

Only Supra I would ever consider would be the aerotop. I bought the Zed because of the summer driving pleasure with the targas off. You can't beat it. If youre into mega power then the Supra is an awsome muscle car.

I'd sooner have a Skyline. Supras have a really oddball appearance....not to mention a hateful dashboard that reminds me of a Scania cab.

Drive one and see what you think, some people love the way the drive some hate them.

best advice you can take m8, rather than the nomal biased OTHER opinions,

or are you seeing how many boos and hisses you get before deciding lol

if so your asking in the wrong place

we have had a supra but wouldnt dream of thinking my opinion of one is the same as others, just to say we didn't have it long, yet others see one the other side of the car park and think thats an educated opinion :nelson:

go and have a thrash in one m8 and tell US WHAT YOU THINK;)

Mate of mine went from a Zed to a supra and loves it. Says its just a better car all round.

Each to their own though, drive one ans see what you think.

its your choice mate - but you have to ask yourself

"why do i want one?"..........."well why do you punk?"

on a more serious note

1) what did you buy a zed??

2) what can a supra give you that a zed cant?

i wouldnt go for a supra - i dont wat a skyline ...hmm an rx7 - now that i might consider

I hear people say they don't like the way they drive - what is it that's not good?

I think it's the sequential turbo's that people don't like, 1st one

comes in at about 2k then the 2nd at about 4k, so you don't get the

hit of both tubs as you do in a z. Not much lag though.

I had a mk4 supra n/a and have driven tt's aswell. What they

lack in character & pedigree, they more than make up for

in build quality & driveability. They are put together like lego, very

easy to work on, sure they have crap dashboards & odd headlights, but

it all depends what you want from the car.

Just get out & drive a few, see what you think.

I had a bit of a mini meet with a supra owner today, coming up the m1 from lutterworth i spied with my little eye a mk4 silver supra.

Caught up with him, he pulled in and i blasted past, pulled in and let him blast past.

Came up to the leicester fosses services and saw him start moving lanes and followed him, stopped for a quick chat for 15 mins.

Nice guy, told him to email me and i'd tell him what decent national meet there were this year.

Incidentally his was an IMPORT pretty stock mk4 supra with 50k on the clock and cost him "10K" (!!!) and looked pretty pig sick when i told him mine had about 70k on the clock and cost me £3500 quid lol

He'd looked at zed's but his mates had all said get a supra :D

I find they lack the character the zed offers, they dont feel as much of a "drivers car" as the zed does...remind me more of a exec german saloon (bmw/merc).

Well built and much simpler to work on though.

I'm sure you remember that one, magical, stolen afternoon we spent together looking at that Fortune Supra at Santa Pod.

It's a vague criticism mate, a vague criticism. But it could be very poignant.

Have you driven one? I haven't to be honest.

I just fancy something like my Zed but twin turbo and don't want the risk of buying a 14+ year old car.

I guess getting mine converted to TT is the other option but we're talking £3500 odd.... to throw away an 8 year old engine and fit a 15 year old one.

Or a DC5 Integra... or a S-Class 320 diesel..... It's all down to money - need to rob a bank really to get most of them.

Get out and drive a few mate. Make sure you drive the alternatives though: skylines, Rx7, etc. Both a bit more expensive to run and buy though. I suppose if you like the zed but get p*ssed with it being a nightmare to work on and having fiddly bits go wrong then the Supra makes sense. The zed is supposed to be a better car to drive, but you could get a Supra with a dirty great single turbo and be a drag queen :-)

Driven and worked on quite a few (NA & TT) at work and outside work, I dont mind them....I just prefer the zed.....try one out yourself, see how you feel...it may well suit your wants perfectly.

What I meant by the character and feel, is that despite their capablities they feel more executive, and less sporty behind the wheel..in comparison.

Supras are good cars, yes the dash looks like its been carved out of a block of solid plastic LOL but there newer than most zeds, better put together, more reliable and far far far easier to tune!! talking 550+ bhp can be had from around £2-2500 which is amazing i think!!

But

For the life of me as much as i keep saying i would buy another i never do and always end up with another 300zx!?!?!? so maybe that tells you something LOL

Oh and the fortune supra.....steeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer away keep clear its been converted into a aero top which my importer nearly bought it until it got checked out and was told it is dangerious!! no extra strangth has been added.

I saw that one on a Supra site - yes, they said it was a bad conversion.

I'd love a decent Fortune Supra though.

The bodykit alone is about £6K though IIRC...

That car looks suspiciously like one I saw at Tesco in Milton. Having said that although I've not seen too many around here I think silver ones are relatively common so quite possibly not the same one. I did admire it at the time, and kind of thought, why didn't I get one of those? Admittedly the dashboard is... well, just wrong, but I think they're quite nice and a lot less hassle.

What I really want is this:

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/CARS_popup.asp?searchform=&modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&photo=1&state=none&sort=5&hassearched=Y&make=NISSAN&min_pr=75&source=0&model=300+ZX&max_pr=10000&agerange=&mileage=&miles=1500&postcode=cb6+3js&start=5&distance=68&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200706269750318

It's a zed, it's a TT, it looks fantastic, and the only downside really is that it's an auto. I'm pretty sure it's one that was on sale in Birmingham a couple of years back and I rejected it at the time on the grounds that it's an auto.... now with hindsight that may have been a bit silly because it's exactly the look I really like, and of course now I'm skint because I've just bought a house, but there you go.

Anyway, the reason I bring that up is that if you're willing to spend £10k on a supra you might want to consider spending a bit less on a really nice zed and then keeping the remainder of the cash in reserve for repairs. IMHO the above looks far better than any Supra I've ever seen.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It looks like a series 2 MR2 from the back... which is kind of a shame because the rest of it is quite nice*, especially the wheels.

*Except for the dashboard, which if possible is even worse than the standard dash.
