First of all i know the three main things are piston rings PCV valves or turbo seals. So i dont need to know the possibillitys I want to know what its likely to be with my symptoms

After driving and leaving my car turned off for a little while and then startin it up again to warm up after a few min im getting oil smoke coming out of the RIGHT exhaust. Its very heavy. but if i drive on full boost it clears instantly.

Then at no other point will this happen again even if when i finish driving and let run for a min its still clear

Come on any solutions

id go with PCV's first. mine had the same syptoms but only when i had a mongoose exhaust fitted, it was fine on both a single exit and unknown make of exhaust.

so it seems like symptoms of valves then. can they be cleaned

they can but generally the springs are shot!! they are very cheap to replace bud worth just getting new ones.

thing is though gaz my engine was rebuilt 2000k ago and pcvs were done then. it was 3 years ago though

hummm wouldn't have thought they would fail that quickly tbh!

i know lol but maybe you never know

Could well be valve stem seals.... PCV problems are usually caused by the HOSES not the valves ;)

remove your pcv valves and have a look... if they can hold there own weight with the spring then they are fine.

thats true but make sure you clean them first. i was very kindly given some from a member on here only to find after i cleaned them the disc rested halfway down the valve.(it was fine before i cleaned them ,gunk was holding it up!)

My guess is rear tubby seels gone fella, seems to be the trait that they smoke on idle but not on boost when they are gone. sorry chap

i agree with that statement but from the symptoms i saw at the hatchgate meet it seems more in the direction that duffy was gettin at... stem seals. though of course i could well be wrong.

first things first, do a compression check and when u remove the balance bar shine a torch inside the plenum and see if there is a pool of oil in there... if there is theres a chance your pcvs could be passing the oil through, remove all the pcv system (5 hoses and 2 valves) and inspect/clean them. old ones become very brittle and split very easily but as yours are fairly new they should be fine. bare in mind that they have restrictors in the hoses bfore you start bashing a drift through it to clear it through!

im sure sum1 can further add to this to try and diagnose your problem...

but it only does it if i turn car off for ten min and then start up a little while after. it clears when i put under load. then if i leave to idle after driving its clear

then id put my money on the stem seals... when you turn the car off, the oil seeps through the seals, then when you start it again you have to blow it through.

Stem seals would also give smoke on over-run - any signs?

no not what i have noticed. if it is stem seals. shall i not bother as they seem like a lot off work to do

Unless its really bad then I'd leave it until it gets worse and you can pin point where the oil is coming from. Obviously keep an eye on your oil level....

Could be tubby seal, that system is straight through, not even back box's.Start it from cold, leave to warm up,check the smoke,if it smokes then take it for a 10 min run,if after run no smoke when idle then tubs have got to temp and oil not getting past seals, worth a try,let us know how it goes.

Tony :)

I changes the pcv valves and now fixed.

I paid 2400 for the car plus £300 for the gauges and £500 for the interior.

Fixed the smoke prolem and a couple of minor things too.

I admit i bought it cheap fro 2400 because the guy was desperate and I knew I could make a small profit it I sorted the smoke problem and the interior

also selling a z on here is hard because everyone has got one.

trust me I advertised my blue z everywhere but only piston heads had most replies

hmmm up for sale again and no mention of the smoking!!

wonder why its not for sale on here

and for double what was paid for it LOL

also is it me or is your maths not too good if i paid £2400+300 with greddy gauges what is £2700

if i was selling it for double I would be asking for £5500 and it is advertised for £3495

lol

fair enough but remember you made a big point of saying you "only" paid £2400 for the car in a thread started by yourself? and also you have reduced the car as it was up for more than £3500

the gauges were from my old car, tbh you would be better off removing them as yes there worth £300+ but they wont add any value to your car IMHO?

who cares really?

do you? :smash: :)

what colour is the smoke bud??

blue means the oil's getting burnt in the cylinders, & grey means it's just getting heated up through the exhaust possibly tubs!!

can anyone confirm this??
