Right ppl,

managed to get myself a popper set for the Zed, however putting it together and i think i may have gone wrong somewhere, the kit works... i.e you press the buton and the solonoid energizes and will pull the catch (the kit is not yet fitted) but i cant seam to see how the lock catch will return to it's normal position, ie the car door not swinging open. there is a compression spring with the kit, but i cant see how that will help, i thought i would need a pull spring (it's proper name illudes me at the moment) so that the catch will return to it's normall position when the soloinoid is not energised or does the castch already have a spring to move it to it's normal possition of closed.

Also i'm looking for a power source that only has 12V on it when the doors are unlocked... if it exsists. the only reason i ask is because i only want the solonid to work when the button is pressed when the doors are unlocked. or maybe a switched negative???? again when the doors are unlocked?????

Any help would be greatly recieved

Neil

what happens if you are parked closely to the car next to you?

is there any control over it?

Not using it from a remote, just a button on the car. so i'll haveto be standing next to the car when the door opens

The solenoid just pulls the inner door catch which automatically returns back. The door will then only actually open outwards if 1) the car is leaning down on the side you popped 2) you adjjust the door hinge so it's fitting tighter like bazzaG's or 3) an actual popper is fitted on the bottom of the door, it's a spring loaded small bar which when door shuts it's compressed but soon as door is activated it springs it open, like mine. Either way don't worry, the door will open a max of about 12inches, so won't hit cars close by, well my never does ;)

Mine works of a switch under the door mirror and from my remote. I also have a hidden switch incase the units pack up, this switch takes takes a live feed direct from the battery. I then use 1 way to open the bonnet incase of battery (car) failure and another way to enter car incase everything packs up, lol

cheers

Got poppers mate, like you was going for a hidden switch, and maybe the drivers side on remote as well, was also thinking about an emergency charge point, incase of flat batt. take it you have a 2 way swich then?? or am i reading it wrong??? when you push the rocker(?) switch 1 way the bonnet opens and push it the other way and the door opens??

with it being connected direct to the batt, you have no prob's with security, and the switch is always live, just the doors are locked??

where abouts inside the door did you mount the solinoid?? and did you mount the popper on the car or the door? and where abouts.

Cheers Paul.
