As per usual with in import , I have no idea if or when my cam belts have been done.

Before I wire up my boost contoller, I want to make sure the cam belts are ok.

Has anyone found a quick/easy way of removing the timing belt covers?

From reading replacement proceedures it seems like a right PITA.

Cheers in advance,

Andy

It's not too bad... just fiddly really - no short cuts though! And, you can't really 'inspect' the belt - at least not in a way that you'd be able to confidently say "yep, that'll last another 20,000 miles!" Not worth the risk if you don't know for definite it's been done imho, get it replaced!

got the complete kit here:

took me about 4 hrs to do the lot. is a fairly straightforward job on a Z32, once everything is out of the way there is loads of room to work! :)

hello paul mate... did you buy this kit from the us? how much did it cost on ur doorstep all in? are all the bits good for a uk spec (other than one of the drive belts)?

Joel

not sure on exact cost as I bought loads of other stuff at the same time LOL! still got roof seals, door seals & targa seals to fit :smw:

mine is UK & all fitted fine (got my kit minus the belts as I have an underdrive pulley anyway ;) )

was the import tax heavy?

Not if it's shipped as a gift or sample or better still use USPS! Most will send using the United states postal service! Just try and avoid UPS!

I did the same, I always change the belts on all the cars I buy. Cheaper than having to buy a new engine.
