I have AT LAST found a guy who will do the split rims off my Zed.

He is fairly local and i am due to get them back on Sat. So with a little luck my tyres will no longer need air every three days.

Watch this space for a report after the weekend. !!!

Roll on the 24th March as its my first track day at Oulton Park.

Well; here is the up date on the rims........

Vince(the re-ferb man) came on Sat with my Rims.

They have had to have new gaskets made(they were 3 piece) That cost £100 for them.. But they were striped back and there are a LOT of bolts to undo!!

He then sorted the kerb damage out on the two and made good the backs.

This afternoon i spent a little time with the Autosol and i think it was money well spent;as they look great.Photos...

I will take some pics with tyres on.

If any one needs rims doing; he is worth a try. You can find a link to his site here http://www.getsmart-group.co.uk/

Please let him know you are from the club.

He will travel (not sure how far; so please ask) and he can referb on site! :hyper:

Sorry to knock your duck off the pond Marcus, although they are luvley wheels. He has not made a very good job of them Bud.The Guy in Nottingham that Flunkie Sigh used would have gave them back like new+if you liked, fitted gold plated bolts as well.Does not charge alot I beleave.I saw the finnish on Si-Moans and was amazed.

Thanks for the comment Vinz.

I take it you did note that the left pic IS the 'before' work on of one of them.

I have to add that my Zed is NOT a MINTER so i am don't need them 'like new' as i am not into spending wads of caash on a car that will never get the return in investment. The kerb damage has gone too.

If i wanted them 'mint' i would have bought new ones...... These seem to be fairly rare rims and complement my Zed well as it is not mint.

How many people can say that their rims stay 'as new' for long?

I spent; what i think was enough money on the rims to make them in line with the rest of the car. :p

Thanks for you input but i will pass on putting the Zed on show like some seem to think they need to and enjoy driving mine when i can; and look forward to my track day in March. :hyper:

BTW, £100 is a bargain for a repolish of the rims. Certainly has smartened them up a bit.

:)

I paid £80 for mine and he took less than a day to do what had taken me 12 months to do lol

Slick pete's taken the centres to sort out the bore at a local engineering firm so all i have to do is finish them off and they can be bolted back together again

Believe me Marcus, your z IS a minter, seen loads of z's at shows and yes,

there are better ones about, but they've had £'s thrown at them to look

that way. That z is pretty much original condition, the paint is flawless.

There are far worse examples out there, have seen some real 'sheds' descibed

as mint condition.

If i ever buy another z, it will be that one back from you, obviously for

a greatly reduced price, because it's not mint anymore! ;)

Also... yes the wheels are Konieg.(sp?)

i want the stainless rims refurbed on my splits and the centres done in a dark gunmetal anybody know i where i can get this done?

si who did you use and how much did it cost? need mine doing but dont know where to go

Cost me quite a bit, but I had centres repainted and both the inside AND outside mirror polished. The wheels took the guy ages; as you can see, the studs are recessed and were very time consuming.

I think the total cost was about £350 (I think...but I can't remember) which was well worth it.

See above. :)

Just done mine myself they were to bad just to polish out so sanded out curb crunches, 3 primer, 2 alloy paint, 3 lacquer & there like new.
