aerodynamically tested CARBON FIBRE body shells and aero parts

ok, here's my plan... im setting up a company to wind tunnel test my zed body part designs. please fill out the poll (if i manage to attach it this time) as it would greatly further my market research  :nana2: :D

would you invest in a CARBON FIBRE body shell and/or aero parts for your zed... 73 members have voted

deff interested in cf tailgate and cf t tops

regards,

alex

anything not very expensive that could make my Z lighter will be really welcome :)

VERY Interested in a SWB Carbon fibre tailgate

Interested in doors too...but I have safety concerns with them (ie. Side impact)

problem is even the likes of Sumo Power who has massive buying power wanted to create along with doluck some bodyparts for their pink drag R33 but it was simply too expensive to wind test them properly so before you start you really need to find out how much it costs to hire a wind tunned ;)

:hyper: gimmie the body shell, I'll keep my panels theyre ok. fookin UK zeds :D

yeah i know how much it would cost someone off the street...

it probably wouldnt be a profitable venture for me if i didnt know the boys in the buiz ;)

thanks to everyone who has already participated in this poll :nana2:

to everyone else, please do enter- everyones input into this could really transform the looks and quality of zed exteriors over the next few years, and also give the zed an overlooked advantage over other jap cars on the track and street.

it would be awesome to get feedback from the majority of members on this forum...

PLEASE EVERYONE TELL WHOEVER YOU KNOW ON THIS FORUM TO ENTER THE POLL PLEASE!!! :hyper:

if i do get as far as i hope in this venture, the first range of products my company will produce will be for zeds, but without trying to promise more than i can realistically predict at this moment... my intention is to use willing individuals on this forum to help me test various products. the cometic side i can say will not be the issue- the products will look the part- its the actual performance gains that i am interested in researching.

Its an old car so why put in so much effort designing new panels for it?????? And surely its looks make it what it is??

Just imagine what would happen if Barry Boys saw one!!! :slap:

you forget mr.piesoup, that it is the design of the vehicle that is old- not the parts that have been replaced or the brand new engines and transmissions that most performance enthusiasts install on their project cars. :slap: :nono:

to the people i am trying to reach, these are not just old cars- these are labours of love and a means to get a tax free adrenaline rush on the weekend, or any time they drive on a road.

some of the zeds i have seen in this country look pitiful- a reflection of the owners respect and care for their cars. some of the cars i have seen, mine included, are purly performance machines that have had their innards stripped and replaced to create drag and track weapons to combat the likes of ferrari and porche. obviously the handling will never be as refined or developed, but with a full suspension replacement including subframe, diff, upper and lower arms, camber adjustment, anti sway bars and chassy support, AND more usable power, a zed can be transformed into a truly understated supercar.

i know the 'can a zed be a supercar' debate is an old favorite and has been flogged to death, but the parts are available for purchase and the performance figures are available to view. :nana2:

so tell me... why should these elite zeds not have a range of exterior parts developed for them to give them the presence and attitude they deserve? my company is not only developing parts for the zed, as this is a relayively small market when compared to the jap, euro and american tuning scenes.

ps who are the barry boys? :p

Wow, that is a reply to be proud of!!!!

Sorry, I didnt realise how big a venture this plan is  and I wasnt having a go at ya!

I agree with you 100% that the Zed deserves some new range of CF parts, I for one would love to replace by rusty panels! And some lighter targa tops too. I think my Zed is a supercar, its a car, and in my eyes, its SUPER :nana2:

I'd be very interested to see some aero tuned panels for the Zed, would you be keeping with the over all shape though?

Oh yeah, Barryboys are a bunch of c**** (well, not all of them) that rip the piss out of cars that they dont like or can afford! Like poor Macca's and Jason's beasts.

All the best for your company, I hope one day I can afford some bits!

Andrew

Hi Snipe,

Do you have a website or any examples of work your company has produced? Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for the zeds.

hi andrew, yeah i understand what the barry boys are now! they all deserve a slap :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap:

no worries- there are so many people reading these threads and they all may have a different take on whats being implied and so on so i always try to address all possible issues in one thread.

body shape will probably be kept in a similar form as the zeds origional one, although i cannot predict the final designs yet as only proper testing can reveal the optimum design.

cheers for the input matey. :nana2:

I would be interested if the parts were to my tastes as the main reason for the Zeds inability to be honed into a sublime handling motor is due maily to its lardy content (it weights too much in the rong places)

However if we're just going to be offered a CF version of a Stroseck Wide arch kit then thats me out, because it is a very old fashioned design and not where I want my car to be.

you are absolutley right about the weight distribution mark, as the origional design for zeds was geared around touring, not racing. i think with enough R&D -that strangely has not been done to this point- these weight issues can be resolved.

what my company will offer however, will have nothing to do with any other manufacturers currently in production. im not even sure if strosek tested thier kits for aerodynamics. its not a cheap or easy goal to accomplish- to confidently say that a body shell or pannels give the optimum air flow around the car with optimum cooling efficiency also.

my designs are ORIGIONAL and all products will be PATENTED before they are available for purchase. im not interested in making a quick buck from enthusiasts- im in this to take the abilities of the UK ZED tuning scene to the next level, and also to start a business that i will look forward to getting up in the morning for, because i am an enthusiast and a pioneer.

i appreciate why some people will be sceptical to begin with, but trust that we are moving forwards here. innovative progress.

If this gets off the ground then I would be interested in some items. Namely functional front and rear diffusers plus full under body diffusers and adjustable rear wings. At the moment I'm designing all of these as "best guess" items for my V8 project car. I wish you luck with it. :)

I too am aiming at some time this year to get a effective rear defuser sorted along with other body mods that I hope are both functional and aesthetic. I have the designs, but lack the time and space to put them into reality at the moment.
