I will be needing new front tyres soon, I currently have the following fitted;

Front; 225/40/18 Conti Sportcontact.

Rear; 255/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport.

My wheels are 18x8 Mania Racing split rims (I think). Being an ex fastfit manager I always rated Michelin, but have be finding them a bit twichy on the rear. So would like some advice on whether I should go for Michelin all round, or if money was no option what would be the best for keeping me on the straight and narrow?

I think you pay a bit for the name but I've found Michelin / Pirelli / Metzeler and the other big name brands to be pretty good on motorbikes and better than cheapies.

I've used Falken on the car as I'm tight! They seem fine. A slide in a car is less disasterous than on a bike!

I got a pair of brand new 225/40x 18 Michilin Primacy for sale, still got the labels on!!

Might know for a pair of 255/35 18's too!

You seldom hear anything bad said about Michelins, although they do seem to suit some cars better than others. As far as the Z goes I'm a Bridgestone fan, but different people will have different preferences.

Pilot Sport are very good tyres - I had them on my old Supra and they were excellent. They are pretty expensive compared to equal quality rivals, though and Goodyear GSD3s and Dunlop SP9000s are as good, if not better, for less money.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

My works race evo uses PS2's as intermediate tyres on the track and they have superb grip and excellent life expectancy.

We can run 2 or 3 full trackdays on PS2's as opposed to about half to a full track day on Conti's etc.

You get what you pay for.

they do say that European cars should run European tyres and Jap cars run Jap tyres - after all that's the formula that the suspension etc will have been set up at the design stage. But, Michelin Pilots are good!

TOYO Proxes, the BEST!!!

I have Michelin Primacy all round. They feel good and were relatively inexpensive.
