I'm afraid it's the end of the road for me and my Zed.

I've spent quite a chunk of money that I had set aside over the past year sorting out niggles on the car and maintaining it etc. In November I spent over £1700 getting shocks (2nd hand), brakes (new front pads, 2nd hand rear discs), hicas arms (new) fitted to get it through the MOT.

The other day it started to overheat, and I feared the worst. A chemical test at my local yokel garage confirmed my fears... head gasket, or possibly worse.

I would go ahead, but the cash reserves have now dried up, so it's got to go.

It'd probably make sense to break it, but I don't have the mechanical knowledge to do that, so I may have to sell it as is. For someone who knows what they're doing it could be a nice investment, or for someone who would just like to break it themselves.

Any advice on what I should do?

Anyone know of anyone that may be interested?

It's a stock 91 Jap spec TT in silver,

leather seats

momo steering wheel

Stern 17" alloys with Pirelli P-Zero Rossos all round (fitted last June)

clear indicators all round

carbon fibre replica spoiler (fitted last March)

The bodywork needs some attention - an 'enonomy' respray before I got it last Jan is microblistering, and the rear bumber has a couple of scuffs

I also have a carbon fibre dash kit (never fitted it) ,a silver grounding kit from Smithy (also never got fitted), and a full scuttle panel I bought from a breaking Zed.

All help and advice would be appreciated, as always.

Christian

For me I think this would be the deciding factor in what to do, if running cars are struggilng to make the same sort of price that the repair is going to cost and you dont have the spare cash to repair then it may be time to cut your losses. Whatever you do Christian I wish you good luck and hope you get the price you want, Richard.

Cutting my losses is very much in my mind mate - whatever happens I'll be cutting my losses, unless some mental person offers me £6000! :p

Thanks Richard, I'll keep you informed - you could still get yourself a bargain, especially as I'm guessing you'd be fixing her up, which would make me happy.

Any news on the zed mate is is still for sale?

Sorry, haven't looked at the forum in a little while - I'm still in Zed death denial...

The Zed is still here, yes. Sitting on the driveway like a beautiful woman that's treated me badly. ;)

I was offered £1100 for it last week and a guy was coming up from Gloucester to have a look, but he was going halves with a mate who pulled out so that didn't happen.

Had another nail in my coffin yesterday too - when my insurance renewal came through - £300 quid cheaper than last year! It's like they knew I was selling it...

So, in short, it's still here, and for sale.

Let me know if you may be interested mate - and I'd still like to see your Zed as it goes!

BUMP!

Just to let anyone that may be interested know... my Zed is now in the 'Cars for sale' section.

Cheers,

Christian

you got P.M. :)

Hang on to it untill you have the money to fix it dosnt matter if it takes 6 months as long as you hang on to it, you will only regret it and you wont ever get such a car that the zed is for the sort of money your selling the zed for, you think about it, what comes close, what you gonna get? I think your mad.

got to aggree with Carl mate. just make it underdriveable(is that a word???) so i cant be nicked. Put a cover over it, You dont even need to in sure it if of the road, and wait till the money is avalable to get her back on the road, you will regret it if you sell

You're right. You're all right.

OK, I'm going to have a rethink on this one, and a word with wozzer...

Yeah we saved one

Good for you mate. I fully know what you mean about running out of money but if you just sell it on as it is now, then some vultures will make easy money out of it. Even if it's not till next year you can get it sorted then, at least you haven't thrown your money away. Stick with it mate you know you will not regret it :duffer:
