Could anyone tell me what the rev counter should read when the clock cluster is out of the car, bought a uk cluster a couple of weeks ago and have only just noticed the rev needle is past the redline (ie past the 9000rpm), is this right? does it need power to read 0rpm or is it fooked?? If this is the case is it difficult to change just the rev counter as ive got one that works in my jap spec cluster.

zero. the needle has been knocked round. CAREFULLY put it back to zero. If it is in any way stiff then dont, you should be able to blow it round.

it will probably go to 0 when you turn it on, but dont hold me to that, could just flick it back round to 0, it should offer extremely little resistance, as above really.

How can it be knocked round? its behind the glass and it doesn't look like its ever been apart. If need be is it straightforward to change for another, and if so will a jap one fit in the UK cluster? sorry for being a pain about this but as I understand they're pretty delicate items to start messing with

plastc cover pops off really easily (4/6 clips), and needle can be moved back as said above... it's not that delicate unless you start pulling needles off, it'll probably just have been knocked around in transit - the needles move VERY easily.

Worst case, yes jap one will fit in.

Just plug it in - if its ok it will reset back to zero...

Don't put it all back together properly if you do this, try it first, mine wouldn't reset itself when plugged in, had to do it manually.
