Anyone help me ASAP with some pics from the side view?!!

If you're online and have one give me a bell, I'll call you straight back!!

Just been to pick my car up and the rear lip on my new skin is about 8mm overhanging the lights...i.e.does it have the lip at the rear like mantaV8's?? If yours is a plain skin, does that fit flush with the lights?

Have you got any pics of yours from the side you can post on my previus thread request??!

Sorry to be a PITA. Alternatly if any of you have a no. for MantaV8 that'd be handy!!

my number is 07818 607568.

-----------------previous post-----------------------

Anyone got any 'up-close' pics of this rear end mod from the 'underside' of teh tailgate that they can post or PM me??....

I put my 2nd Tailgate into the bodyshop a couple of weeks back (who claimed to have done a few Z spoilers....got their number off a Z with a fitted Veilside kit and they opened lukes Zcentre website straight away to ask which spoiler i was after so assumed they knew a bit about the job ).

Anyway....., when i went to see it today and drop the car off for fitting and blending, it looks like they have filled in over the two plastic trims on the rear underside which sit above the lights  Might be wrong and it'll look different when sprayed up, but when i asked where the trims were thet did'nt know what i was talking about till i showed them the ones on my stock spoiler!

I was wondering if a lip should have been left for these to be re-fitted and close the gap between lights and new skin or is this gap usually closed up by building up the filler ??

Had a nose at that orange with the blanking skin below its spoiler that someone posted earlier but could do with some close up shots of the underside near the trims to show the garage and air my concerns before they get stuck in this week...!!

Anyone whose gone smooth or put the blanking skin on got any pics? Help would be really appreciated...

Mine was fitted the same so I'm missing the trims.

I've tried various ways to fix them back on but I can't which means there's a gap that spray and dirt gets in :(

If you mean the 2 seals on the t/gate,you can't fit em' because the skin removes the 'lip' they sit on!-mine was the same, could try bonding them i suppose?

Cheers guys.

They're obviously there to stop crap being sucked in with the vacuum so assumed that they would have removed them so they can be re-fitted - Doh! I also liked the way they closed the gap!

I spoke to luke at Zcenter when i got back today. He left a slight gap between skin and spoiler when bonding his so he could re-insert his trims, but guess that this again is only something that comes with experience :smash:

More gutted really that they've filled in over them as they were a good set compared to the ones hanging on by the skins of their teeth to my stock spoiler! (I only assume they've done this after telling me there were only two trims on the sides of the tailgate)

Ta anyway and thanks for the pics Manta...I'm gunmetal too and i love your rear on the 600ZX!! (Back end of your car that is :nono: !)

Dj.

Yes I miss them too, it looks like there's a gap with something missing but like you say the average bodyshop probably aren't aware of this and fill the holes :(

The lip curves out on the top edge like a subtle wing but should be flush vertically with the light panel at the bottom edge.

Here we go now I know what you're after ;)

It's pretty much spot on and level on mine but looks a little stuck out in the pics due to the curve of it around the rear.

Chris, spot on mate. Thank you kindly for your efforts...I owe you a pint! They're just what i needed, or not really, as it kind of confirms my thoughts a little..???!!

It looks Ok from a distance, (Pics..."rear 1 & 2") but when you look close up i'm not so sure....

Any advice from others appreciated.

Looks ropey to me, they haven't fitted it far enough back.

Did to me close up, Thats why i need some comparisons from those who've had this skin fitted...Do you have one Jay??? It can physically only go so far back though as the 'rebate'' on the underside of the skin butts up to the spoiler (see skin pic)....I was wondering from the skin pic whether they should have trimmed, what i term the rebate?? But this is where the screws go into from the tailgate itself, so still not sure??..

Those are mega closeups showing an over enthusiastic perspective. Kinda difficult to tell.

Cheers bud i'm kind of thinking that myself a bit now...4 hours later! I could do with some 'mega close-ups of others spoilers i suppose to compare like with like...Looking at ChrisC's pics if i did it at the same distance, i think it might look ok. Will take some more in teh light tomorrrow i think and post again!!

Cheers for looking bud, made me feel a bit more positve at least :p Your attention to detail was urgently required ;)

My attention to detail can be quite anal at times though! LOL...I pick holes in my car ALL the time and get stressed out with it! LOL

IMHO, I think it looks fine. Sure it's not as flush as it could be, but being a darker coloured car helps too. If it were white or something, it might be more noticable.

Anything you're not quite happy with, your eyes always divert straight to that problem and you focus on that aspect rather than the car as a whole...I know because I do the same with mine.

I like the tailgate skin a lot and was something I considered as well. Just fancied the 99-spec in the end.

Got your mail bud!-I'll answer here tho' now I have seen those pics!!

That's crap!-sorry an' all but mine was /is no where near that far out!!

As Rainbow did,I fitted this myself and after much cutting there isn't a lot of the skin left to fit! :o Looks like they have tried to fit the whole thing as -is

and in a rush too! :slap:

Hmmm I don't think they've fitted it far enough back but it would be a nightmare to get it changed.

It doesn't look bad in most of the pics and you certainly won't notice it from the rear which is what most people will see :D

When I look at mine closely I spot all sorts wrong - the front bumper almost touches the wheel on one side but not the other because it's a crap fibreglass moulding.

When I jack the car up and the wheel drops it lodges on the bumper but you'd never know unless I told you

Also the scoops in the rear arches are wonky on one side and my headlight panel never seems to line up with the bonnet perfectly

but...

When it passes you at 185mph it looks awesome :D  :nana2:
