Uneven Tyre Wear

Hiya All

Checking me tyres at the weekend to find the rear drivers side tyre is nearly bald, yet the opposite side has a good couple of thousand left in it. I had the tracking done in January, so if the tracking isn't out, what could it be, I will be having the tracking checked when I have the tyre changed.

Any sugestions??

Regards

JOHN

How you mean by bald. Bald all over? Just in parts? One side?

Do you have the same tyres on the rears. I knew some one who had differnet tyres on the rear and less grippy one for ripped to shreads. It could be your shocks, or even low pressure in your tyres from a while ago making it wear quicker but you didnt notice the difference untill now.

Have you had 4 Wheel tracking done?

Stuart

All over bald Stuart, there the same tyre, Continental Sports, tyre pressure was checked each week with no problems and I had the 4 wheel tracking done in Jan

Sounds like a suspensiony type thing to me. Could be a worn/broken anti-roll bar of a dodgy shocker.

Have either of these been changed recently?

John

Check your Hicas inner ball joint and also the outer one. If you've a wobbly side that could explain the accelerated wear. You might also feel sideways movement in the car when that wheel hits a pothole.

Other poss is bottom ball joint.

Chris I make donuts not do them biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

So how do I check for a fooked ball joint then??? I'm not very mechanically minded biggrin.gif.

I've not had any work done on the rear shockers maybe its time?

Regards

JOHN
