TBH I'd speak to your solicitor first - anything you say could prejudice any future events...

Oh and good call btw, one less slush box on the road :D ;)

Good job before the kickdown kills it on a frosty bend... You won't regret it! It'll be like driving a different car!

indeed ^^^

im surprised you did not notice the box only had 3ltrs normally the box would respond so slow with that little oil not near enough line pressure

Bad news matey. If nothing elese, you should be able to get them to pay for a new one - or contribute towards your manual conversion. At the very least, you could have sold your auto box and got a reasonable price for it. Presume you'll also have to pay to get the car up the line to get it converted -and that won't be cheap. Probably find out that the garage put one of their "boys" onto your car for a bit of experience.

Have to agree. My wife is a solicitor and her advice is to seek legal advice before charging in to the garage all guns blazing.

You may also need to get an engineers report to confirm that the damage was caused as you described.

I think i might be a bit late on that one , if the oil was still in the car then yes , as I have dropped the sump and removed it then I dont think I stand a chance, will speak with a soliciter monday.

Put the sump back on and fill back up with the oil you drained out, or some new stuff and take the car for a quick drive/roll :)

andy is there anyway for the gearbox oil to find its way anywhere else in the vehicle , it didnt have a leak?

If it didn't have a leak then NO! And even if it did have a leak it would just end up on the floor!

What about in the cooling system through an oil cooler, no external leaks there. One place the oil would go. Any emulsification in the rad?

Cheers John Crisp

Not leaking externally. I have seen oil being lost from an auto gearbox into the cooling system as the oil pressure is higher than the pressure in the cooling system, then when the vehicle isnt used small amounts of coolant goes into the gearbox, eventually killing the box.
